Yes, it WAS a real truck. However, I have no idea if the truck survived or not.

 

Here is my 1924 Buick truck. Originally believed to be a Series 24-37, this vehicle was modified by the original owner, from a 4 door sedan to the truck bed seen here, sometime around WW2, to obtain more fuel rations for a utility vehicle, vs a luxury vehicle. The original owner used it as a farm truck, until he p***ed away. I am the third owner, through transfer-ship of ***le from the guys that bought it at the estate auction with several Model As. I did a frame up resto-mod, adding disc brakes all around and replaced the original drivetrain with an LS1 motor, turbo 400 transmission and Ford 8" rear end. I built this to be used as a truck. I drive her everywhere, including off road and moved my entire 3,000 sq ft house with it.
