And maybe a couple that are just too cool to p*** up. I got a wild hair in my *** yesterday morning, jumped in the wife's ride and took off to Spokane for the Speed and custom show yesterday. I'll have to say that it was well worth the trip because the overall quality of the vehicles being shown was seriously high outside of only a couple of patina rigs and a smattering of rat rods. Even one of the rat rods was interesting because it has been a long time since I saw someone put a chopped top back together with br*** rather than mig or tig.
here is the link to most of the 303 photos I took at the show. If OT rigs might cause a health issue with you you may best p*** though. https://robertdavison.smugmug.com/2018-Spokane-Speed-and-Custom-Show/
My clean up cleaned a few too many up. This is as pure hot rod as it gets. I first saw this sedan in a Seattle show in the early 60's as a teenager.
So many nice cars. Thanx for the trip. I'd like to see the Orange Crate in person, just once. And I just loved that white Galaxie! Gary
Thanks for the great pictures! Spokane is a great "car" town. Attended the GG last August and had a great time, the hosting Dukes do a great job. You even posted a picture of my avatar and made me world famous! Thanks again!
I have to agree there MMM1993, the Spokane area car folk really get it no matter what the cars are. We drove up to walk and look at Goodguys last summer and really enjoyed it. The overall caliber of the cars in the show was really high with no "filler" cars that appeared to be brought in to fill empty corners. Outside of one club's late model cars that mainly had nice wax jobs severe lowering and huge wheels (that is what that club runs) every car in the show was interesting to look at and had merit for being in the show. I took 303 photos and there were probably only ten cars or trucks in the show that I didn't take at least one photo of. That is a new record for me.
I only took a few pics Saturday, I will ad them here, hope you don’t mind. The last one was the ride home. Wore the little guy out. Mission accomplished
Thanks for posting the nice coverage of the show. Nice to see the Orange Crate back on the show circuit. I saw it when it was new and later at Tindell's car lot.
Your photos are always welcome on my threads Chris. You got some I somehow missed too. I stuck my nose inside the "diner" trailer that was outside. Looks like I missed the one inside and the Ford wagon completely while working my way through the maze.
Wow, that was a great show...very 60's early 70's feeling. I loved the un-chopped black 49/50 Mercury. Thanks for sharing. Charlie
Nice show, nice cars. It's good to know that true hot rodding spirit is alive and well up in the PNW, I may end up there some day. I almost moved up there 20 years ago, and I have a lot of family in the area, so if I can talk my wife into leaving this God forsaken state before the bottom falls out, there's a good chance that is where we'll end up. Thanks for the pics guys!
