I have one, haven't messsed with it for some time, but I believe the motor lights up, the car shakes and steam comes from the radiator. Mick
In some ways this car (one exactly like it) - changed my life. I had one when I was maybe 4 or 5 years old...I remember my grandfather rotating the wheels to make the pistons move up and down, and stopping them at different positions and explaining what the motor was doing at that moment (spark plug is going off...piston is pushing down the crankshaft...) and then making it very clear how that power was transmitted to the tires. I can still remember feeling like I had one up on my friends because I understood this. I started taking shit apart pretty soon after that.

Got a '53 to '55 ford dump truck, and the picture of it and I in front of the xmas tree...'59-'60... I wore the wheels off it, my uncle [supervisor of maintenace at BIW] had run new axles and 1" x 3" fronts and 2" x 3" rear vulcanized rubber wheels... he reversed an old camper screen door's return action and added a bent coathanger release to lift the bed... after a couple years it would lift the bed so hard it would pull the front wheels... my brother and I would set rocks on the headboard and launch them like a catapult...has a thick coat of grey house paint ... dad painted the house in 1968... may fix it up as it might be the only metal truck a grand nephew would ever get to play with... had not touched it in 25 years...
Here's a funny { STORY }, of this little Hot Rod roadster, that I had as a kid. My brother and I put one of my sister's dolls in it. We pulled it along with a string and drug it, while sitting in the rear 3rd seat of our dads station wagon. I found it at my dads house. It's funny that I still have it! Lol Ron....
the year I turned 6 mom and dad sent me to my grandparents while she had my younger brother...they had a camp on lake st. george they made me take a nap every afternoon... while I slept dinda, gramps, built me a fletcher class destroyer about 2 feet long, had gun turrets, torpedos, depth charges, smoke stacks, bridge... I found a 10' long alder and some fishing line and like the funkhousers I watched it sail beside the boat across to the island camps... 1962 sorry no pix... years later we anchored plastic army men to it with thumb tacks in the winter and took turns shooting them with a BB gun.
When I was a little kid, my aunt worked at the Structo factory here in town. For every birthday and Christmas, I got a new Structo truck. I had some really cool ones, but I was a destructive little guy, I destroyed every one of them. I ruined all of my toy cars and trucks. Several years ago I saw a couple like new versions of some of the trucks I had killed as a kid and thought it would be neat to have a few of them to keep as I grew older. I was shocked to see how much they were asking for those old trucks! Over the last 10 years I've collected a few Hot Wheels, a few models, and a few diecast cars, but no Structo trucks. I have arrived at the point where my desire to own them has gone away, but I enjoy looking at them still. Gene
This is all I got at the moment. Need to find a Hot Rod for it to haul No name I could find, has made in USA stamped on bed. Anyone have an idea on year/make?
Here are a few of my tin toys.Some of these I got when I was about 6 or 7(I'm older than that now;at least physically).The Mack dump truck I got awhile ago in trade for striping a cooler. The chrome plated roadster although unmarked is I believe of German original just after WWII and has a clockspring motor and forward & reverse.The Jalopy and the milk truck both had clockspring motors that I removed when I was a kid.The green police car and the Continental MkII are both battery operated with lights.The Studebaker truck has a clockspring motor. The slush mold toys were obtained from my wife's aunt's house when she passed away. They had belonged to her cousin who died many years ago. The Tootsietoy mail truck is from the 1930's and belonged to my uncle.

Not really a hot rod but a older pot metal piece. And I have a couple of plastic premiums from the old Grape Nuts cereal boxes.
Danny, those are great cereal premiums, pretty darn rare. I have a Kellogs Hot Rod Kit that you could get in the early 50's for 50 cents and a Kellogs Krumbles box top. It was basically a reboxed Monogram kit, even came with a tube of glue. Mick
I was fooled because I always thought that Wyandotte made heavier cast pieces and not the lighter litho stuff but it does look cool!
