I don't know much about it. It's an 8×10. I have a lot of historical original photos that I would like to share from my collection. -germ
I remember seeing that roadster in the little rod magazines years ago, don’t remember much about it. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Built by a guy in the Navy in San Diego and had a ton of chrome if I recall. Such a great bit of work. The rear detail is perfect. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That is awesome Germ. That is the Bob Smith roadster, was on the March 1958 HRM cover & for me probably one of the top 5 Hot Rod mag covers. Car had a long history before Bob, ran in the 40s at the Dry Lakes as a RPU by Chuck Gibson (Bob or Carl Burnett turned it into its famous roadster incarnation). Prowlers of San Diego has history relating to the car.
As I recall from a previous post the car was built by a guy named Hoot and the car p***ed through a few of the club members hands. HRP
Hoot was Chuck Gibson's nickname. The 4 club member's owning it is probably why it survives as it has, not sure when those most recent shots were taken though.
The exposed shock is unique after rear was m***aged. Makes you look hard and actually like it. Different
I remember this car so well, especially the color, it was called Hawaiian blue in the HRM article. A REAL hot rod.
