In the market for a new TIG welder. And I'm sick of using hacked together used stuff. The guy at the local weld supply is working me a deal on the Syncrowave 200 by Miller. Anybody have experience with them. The 250 would maybe a little over kill for me. Basically it'll be for doing an oil/gas tank here and there, art work, and I would like to get a wire feeder to cut out having a separate MIG, and just use it for all my welding needs. Frame work would be in the mix as well. Just wondering if there's any experience with that model.

I love the Syncrowave 250. I am in welding school right now, and just walked by one of ours. I used it about a week ago making a custom storage box for my brother and it ran like a dreams. Stuck my tungsten on the first spot but after that, I steadied up and she burned good about 36 amps on 20 gauge. The High Frec start control on it is awesome for tacking. I definitely recommend that series of machines.

  3. I'm looking at the 200 Syncro too. Let me know what kind of pricing you are able to get. The 200 looks like a nice compromise between the "old" 180 and the 250.

Price he gave me was 1800.00 for the rolling complete package. I priced the package online comes out at about 2300-2400. I would like to avoid incurring the added expense for the 250, if the 200 would serve my purposes without fail. Don't get me wrong I would dig a 250, but I gotta temper myself some.

How do you like the 180?. Specs show it having more amps than the 180, but only twenty. Gotta beat the 175 I have now.

I have the Miller Sychrowave 180 and it works awesome. I can weld virtually anything that needs to be fabricated for my project.

  7. I'm sure it probably does, that's why it's a new model and why it's called a 200 instead of 180 ;)

Like said above, I've never needed anything else, it does anything I'm working with.

That said, I might move up to a Dynasty as soon as I try one to see if I need the pulse & other added features, which will probably be Louisville Nats. You won't go wrong with a 180 or the 200, I know that much.

The EconoTig was a great machine that we had in the last shop I worked at. We welded exotic stainless steels, and aluminums; always thinner than 0.150" , never had grief with that machine. We just got a Dynasty, haven't yet welded TIG with it....looking forward to getting as comfy with it as I was with the EconoTig.

    Good luck.

I have a buddy that has been a welder his entire life and he loves his 200 Synchro, I think he bought the 200 "runner". It was around 1800 or so. He loves it and runs his hard .

You'll love it. All the Miller stuff is great. We have a Dynasty at work as well as an Aerowave. That pulse feature can make aluminum welds pure art. If you don't need the 250 (and probably really don't) I can't see how you can go wrong at that price. I paid almost $1500 10yrs ago for a Millermatic 250 mig get up. I love the thing, not complainin a bit. Just the point that price is a deal.
