Technical 3/8 Aluminum Tubing

    Looking for some ideas on how to straighten a coil of tubing...3/16 1/4 3/8...I know you can get some tools for a few hundred dollars...maybe 150...Any homemade ideas out there...Any tips.

    Yup.

    If you are doing this often, you can do what I did. I got a block of Delrin scrap, and drilled it slightly oversized for all of the diameters of tubing I use.

    $5+time.

    Short pieces roll em out in a piece of angle iron, long pieces stretch em just till they straighten with a come-a-long you will only lose about 6" if you clamp both flattened ends with locking pliers.

    They make these in several sizes. Got mine at Eastwoods, works pretty slick!

    Sorry, didn't mean to impress anyone! Pic grabbed from the web. A design I intend to copy for myself. Steel rollers like that are often used in industrial/commercial machines.
