I’m planning to change the heads on my 350. I do my work in the driveway and I’m concerned about anything that might come up and prevent me from getting it done in a day. If not it might be a few days before I can get back to it or I might need an unexpected part... I ***ume covering the intake valley and cylinders with rags will provide some protection. Is there anything else I should be doing? How long would I be safe to leave it like that? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was thinking about wd40 or a light coat of oil and will probably do some combination of the other suggestions if needed. I have an extra short block that had been sitting in the seller’s garage. It had the cylinders lubricated and covered with foil glued to some old head gaskets. That seems to have worked well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shop vac out any water in the water jacket, cylinders and such. Then you can seal it up with seran wrap, it sticks good. Sent from my SM-G900V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I like WD40 for some things but I haven't found that it provides particularly long lasting corrosion protection. It's better than nothing but there are better products for this purpose. We all know how a couple days can turn into a couple months.
Yeah with a 3 year old, a pregnant wife and the weather how it’s been this year I really don’t want to have to rush through it. I think I’ve heard before that wd 40 wasn’t the best when storing an engine. Saran wrap sounds like a great idea also. I hope I responded to everything I wanted to.
