I bought these from a HAMBer Took these out of my 50 Olds cluster because they didn't work I broke open the 4 gauges and ended up with this afterwards, the needles are all pegged so you can't see them in the picture but when they have power they are seen perfectly. I have to center the gauges still. Now I have to remove the speedometer screening and try to restore that myself...
Hey Speed, good luck with the screening job. Those guages look perfect in there.I gotta do the same thing on my Merc cos NONE of the original guages work!A previous owner has added extra guages at the bottom of the dashboard so at least I know the fuel level and oil pressure.Post pics of the finished job.Cheers,Kol
Bob, do you remember what they looked like when you shipped it to me? I cleaned it up more a bit today.
Nice job!! How did you get them to stay in place behinde the original face? Any pic's on the process?
Cool idea Thomas...just another one I'm going to steal from you. It came out perfect. Post an update after you do the speedo. LSM
Its a 50 Olds cluster. I took apart the old gauges, drilled new holes in the factory backing plate(in some cases just opened the holes bigger), put a rubber grommet on the live posts so they don't ground out and it fit pretty good. Didn't have to modify much at all. I just got done wiring them all up and they work beautifully. I have the speedo and if you want it pm me. I've also got a tach. speedy
Here's the finall. I skipped the expensive screening and bought some model enamel paint Turned out pretty good for a do it yourself restoration of a gauge cluster Last pic you'll see the 3 knobs. the upper two will be for my airbags front and rear
