a friend of mine in oregon picked this old hotrod out of California a year and a half ago or so. It was discovered and went through a couple hands before my friend got it. My friend got it running and driving, ended up finding another car he wanted, and he brought the 5W to the Portland Swap Meet earlier this month. My brother saw it at the swap meet and fell in love. He made a deal after the swap, sold a couple cars and yesterday we drove back and picked it up.

The car is in amazing original shape. It has a 348 Chevy that was installed I’m guessing in the early 60’s. 39 trans, stock rear and juice brakes. The car was red painted over the original black, and in the 70’s or 80’s the car was parked and stripped to bare metal. This is where it sat up until a couple years ago. The K member is not cut nor the firewall, and the original builder mounted the grill/radiator forward for water pump clearence. My friend, who is the one that got it running, moved the radiator back to the stock spot, put the hood on and used an electric fan and water pump for room.

The car runs really well. It still needs some work but it runs and drives nice. The 348 doesn’t really fit, so eventually my brother may put another engine in it. Or modify the car to better accept the 348. For now, his plans are a dropped axle, lower the rear, tires/wheels/caps and get it sitting and driving as well as he can, and just clean it up and modify it to suite his needs.

In the off chance someone knows this car, let me know. It’s actually a pretty srock car aside from lights, nerf bars and the mill. It came from around Bakersfield, maybe towards the coast.

I love 32 5windows and 348 Chevy engines. I love the car. I personally would just move the engine back some and keep it.

Thats a heck of a find. Congrats and I am sure that your brother knowing you will capture its past ambience that has faded away over the many years since its former glory.

A drop axle and a tank full off gas, and she is ready to roll.

    Nice score, -Abone.

I like it, neat car! Those Buick tail lights give it cl***!! I even like the 348, hope he holds down the burn outs with the old trans and rear end.

That is just too cool, clean up the body, and paint it to match the dash.
It would look like it just came of the pages of R&C from '62 or '63.
It really needs to be brought back to it's former glory!
