I thought it would be cool to have a car with the roof cut off and the doors welded shut a while ago. Well, now I have one and trust me buddy, it sucks. mine was a 4-door 51 mercury. now it is a joke! I traded a v-drive boat for it and got it on the cheap. but trust me you wont be happy. you are stuck with that once you commit. If you want I can take some pics of my car and post them. It looks cool but damn it got gay real fast. what are you askin for that car? it must not be worth a whole lot to you if that is the plan.
customized or stupid.Why are people fucking up perfectly good cars just to out do each other,In the end its not even going to look like a traditional car.Maybe I'm a fuckin idiot but I thought the point of customizing a car was to improve on the fuckin thing not destroy it.
sometimes there are reasons some things havent been seen welding the doors shut sounds stupid, but hell if you do not have any sence of style good for you
I could understand if it was a roll over or if a tree had fell on it, but that looks like a decent car. You'll be lucky to get a couple hundred bucks for it if you butcher it like that. Buy a minitruck if you want to do something like that.

seriosuly, you've got a good piece of steel there, i wouldn't cut it off... even to an extent i could not mind seeing the doors welded shut... but it'd be damn hard to get in and out of it... let alone if you were to get into a crash... if you want a convertible, i'm sure you could post that on the hamb classifieds here (wait a little while, i think we have a two week minimum membership time to post, though, they may have gotten rid of that) and i can 99% garauntee you someone'll take that... it's got a real good looking body to it... personally, all i would do to that is lower it pretty well, maybe chop it, ad some nice frenching, smoothing, etc... and drive it... like said, if you want a convertible, get ahold of one, a lot of guys would probably be willing to buy it... especially guys on this board... the ones who didn't want it when you had it for sale were probably street-rodders and shuddered at the thought of not driving something fiberglass... nice car, try not to do anything stupid to it... btw... i like the hood scoops...
edit- noticed you've been on here since June last year, a little longer than me, you probably know about posting classifieds then...
you can always go with a carson-style top. you can build one pretty easy and cheap. If you need I can send you description of how we built one, but we only did one so I am no expert. Only cost like 200 bucks. It is a easy cheap chop. But dont weld the doors shut, it gets old, fast! it is nice for when girls are wearing skirts though. Wierd question: If you chop the roof off, can I have it? I need to reskin my 49 ford roof and that looks like it could be used.
If you're good with a welder, why not chop a few inches from the top instead? If it doesn't come out right, well you wanted a roadster anyway. Seems like a waste to me, its not worth a dime if you cut the roof and weld the doors. Why weld the doors anyway? Reenforce the frame if that's what you want. No offense man but it sounds like a quicky hack job, and a bad idea. Just my 2 cents, it's your car.
you know this is a traditional hotrod and custom board,... if your not prepared to get shit for shit posted.. anyhow there is always old skoolrodz if you really love these dunder slammed shitboxes with welded doors.. but if ya wanna get influensed into cool customs check around and change your mind, what you think is cool is not around here, but what's around here is mostly way cool,
the only way that car would be cool with no roof and welded doors is if it has a blown cammer on some sort of exotic fuel the body has been sectioned legthened and wheelbase altered you now sit in the back seat area in the center of the car the body is also now fiberglass and the thing runs 6's. sort of an altered experimental car. I would love to have your car and it would be alot less work to throw a motor in and lower it and drive it and people givin you praise instead of hell.
