    Greetings all

    A little help needed.

I’m running a Rebel wiring harness with LED tail lights. Now in the kit there is only one rear stop light circuit for both rear lights. when you connect the indicator/brake wire together and put either left or right indicator on you get power across the whole circuit and it puts both lights on.

Any ideas how to solve the problem so they work correctly.

    Thanks for any help

I'm just guessing but call your vendor, could be it should of been ordered for 2 lites. Wireing may be different between 1-2 taillites.

The tail lights are single circuit (on / off) or dual circuit (off / dim / bright)?

    The indicator switch is what?

Which Rebel harness? Got a schematic with it? It’s directions should cover the brake and turn signal lights and how to set them up. Or you may have to call them for advice.

Are you saying the indicator on the dash lights up. You wire indicators to left are right

light wires. I usually wire to the turn on the front harness.

The brake wire goes through the turn signal switch. The switch feeds the rear light for brake/turn when applied. turn switch on right it would feed the left brake light and right turn light would blink and vise versa.

I just went through this same thing and had created most of my own problems by trying to use a toggle switch style turn signal set up. Call Rebel. They are good folks and will get on the phone with you and help you trouble shoot what is going on with your set up. I had single socket tail lights with dual filament bulbs and had a hell of a time until I just purchased an add on turn signal switch. Once that was wired in everything worked as it should. Turn/brake function on one element, then park lights function on the other element. I am a total novice at wiring but Rebel was great helping me out.

All Rebel kits I think have the same rear light setups.
    Left turn
    Right turn
    3rd brake light
    Tail lights

I think what you mean is I just need to connect the left turn wire to the stop light and it’ll work both turn and stop.
Leaving out the 3rd brake light wire

Going to change out the column to a generic GM column. So hopefully be able to sort it out with that one. For the time being I’m running without turn signals which is no problem really

  9. Yes they do. You share the running light wire with both lights and then each side gets it's own turn/brake. If you arn't running turn signals the you would also share the brake light wire.

Watch out for the led light as some tend to back feed through the system, like you turn the right turn on and all the lights blink (like the hazards are on). Each light should have some sort of built in diode.

Yes the turn switch would power the turn/brake led just like the filament bulb. I have them on my 40. The turn indicators are powered from the front turn circuits.

Ok thanks. I’ll disconnect the 3rd brake light wire from my system and hopefully it’ll be sorted. Thanks

  14. Sorry, forgot to add that the t/s switch is the splitter, power in, 4 lines out (front 2 and rear 2 t/s) and the splitter for the brake lights. I used the 9+3 on a '54 Ford panel truck, with a nos t/s switch. I had to use my meter to find out wire color on the switch and then just hooked them up to the Rebel harness. Also you don't need to go to led, you can just replace the contacts (or contact housing) on the stock lights to a dual filament and use regular bulbs.

LED is abbreviated from Light Emitting _Diode_. You do need low current flashers to work with LEDs, but that should be the only difference from incandescent bulbs.

All grounds are good. Everything inside goes to a ground stud which is connected directly to the battery.

Traditional taillights in previous 40's always got me "do you realize that your brake lights don't work?". Led's in current 40 and I get "boy you can really see your brake lights". I drive my 40 a lot and I want people to see me stopping.

Exactly why I have them because a lot of people don’t seem to pay much attention when driving
