Photo's start on post #16. The NSRA Nat's South is May 4,5 & 6 in Knoxville,Tennessee which is fast approaching, Anyone making plans to attend? HRP
That will be my birthday so I am thinking I may mosey own up that way if I can get my son to come with me to buy me a present......or at least dinner. I think the Redneck Rumble is that weekend too, so not sure which one yet.
Don,Brenda & I will be celebrating our 46th Wedding Anniversary on the 4th,going to the Nats South has changed a lot over the years but we still enjoy going. HRP
Wow, that was thoughtful of you two to get married on my birthday, thank you.. Congratulations. I wish many more for you.
I can choose not to look at street rods much like I do when attending event's that have too many rodent rods. HRP
I'm going and I have a booth there with my new display! with products of my steering column and brake pedal rubber boots ! Sorry about the billet wheel but that's all I have as it was free !
And we are off! Day 1 I put new tires on the sedan last week getting read to go to Knoxville,I spent most of the day Thursday going over my check list, checking the fluids and changing the oil,I even washed the sedan for the first time in a very long time. Thursday night we loaded up the chairs, luggage, canopy, ice chest and had a decent nights sleep,We got up early and out to the garage, opened the door, Jumped it the car, hit the switch and all I got was winding, winding and winding, No fire and no time to figure out the problem,It ran great Thursday evening. We did a hasty transfer of all the necessities from the sedan to Brenda's wagon and met up with Dave & Steve at the designated time. The ride up I-40 was uneventful and arrived at the host motel and got registered for the show, we had a early dinner and sit with many friends we have gotten to know over the 30 some odd years we have been attending the show. We all laughed at how we use to party until the wee hours of the morning, drinking and telling jokes and walking through the motel parking looks looking at cars because we always saw something we missed at the show. Now must of us are in the room by 9PM any drinking is usually confined to coffee or a coke and no one seems to prowl around, just a bunch of Old Farts. HRP
Day 2 Friday We left the motel about 8 AM and as soon as we arrived at Chilhowee Park I took a few photos of cars that appealed to me,I talked to a lot of friends both old and new and hit the swap meet. I was thinking, a few short years ago you would have never seen these cars at this show. HRP
Day 3 Saturday Today I did a lot more talking than taking photos,we I returned to the wagon Brenda informed me her wagon had been pick for a award,I think it's a safety pick but I'll know Sunday. Dave's confused pickup also won a award. It was hot and our party left early, this is the rest of the photo's. HRP These two wagons belong to Hambers. And can you guys believe I only took a photo of one Deuce?
Day 4 Sunday Well guys, thankfully the weather mans prediction of a monsoon overnight never materialized and the sun was shining Sunday morning, the weather was pleasant and we were pleased to see the traffic was much less hectic than the last few morning commutes. I had mentioned earlier that Brenda's wagon was picked for a Safety Award and we were shown where to park when we arrived at the show. I was kinda in shock at some of the award winners,it is NSRA and they ARE street rod oriented but some of the things there made me shake my head but I guess they know what they are doing. My pal Dave' s Confused Pickup was on stage also,I'm not a trophy whore but it does get your juices flowing when others think it's cool. Brenda was pleased. HRP The big wet spot under the car is not gas but my large cup of coffee.
Saw Dave's truck cruising around, but didn't see your wagon, only a 57 with the same paint. Where were you parked? Behind the bldg.? Bill
Looks like the rain held off. I got up this morning, checked the forecast and chickened out on the the drive over the mountains. Wish now that I'd gone. Thanks for posting the pics...some nice cars.
Bill,we were parked behind the main exhibition building, and that '57 Del Reo wagon was a beauty! HRP
