Projects Standard or big wheelopenings on Studebaker 1955? Pictures

Have found a pair of rear fenders for my Studebaker. They where modified here in Sweden in the late 60's. Toughts and comment are welcome. Plan is to buy and use them. Have a couple of Wheel-setups for it

 

I prefer the stock wheel openings, but with 2 sets of quarters, I would run both and switch it up if i got bored.

 

IMHO, you just can't beat the stock opening.

 

I like the red ones with the big opening, Look good with fat tires.

 

If you use the big opening fenders, in my opinion the car needs to be much lower to make the tires fit the big opening.

 

To me, the big wheel opening at about the 10 o'clock position doesn't have a really pleasing shape. Also it seems a little too close to the top of the quarter panel. I would personally stick to the factory openings. Love the car though.

 

Big fender wells big tires. Small fender wells small tires. not a hard decision at all.

Impossible to say unless we know what you are building. I like the stock openings better. But if you were going for a sports car look with wire wheels, or a drag car with slicks, the big openings would work.

 

While I like the OEM fender opening better, when you paint the car...paint the "opened" fenders too..!
That way you an swap back and forth at will..!
Looks like they were done fairly well from your picture.

What are you building G***er, Kustom, Cruzer? That would determine it for me.

Like tires with lot of rubber and hight. Here is a picture of the front

 

I would go with the stock openings, but it's not my car.

 

Go with the red 1/4’s and some nice AMERICAN 5 spokes.

Will as someone wrote properbly keep all 4 fenders so i can mix it a little

 

Personal preference,but I like the big openings if your running wider wheels. HRP

 

You could also fix those red quarter panel openings with a different opening. Just cut out the extra large part and then weld in new openings. Still different than stock, but not as huge or tall of an opening.
