When I bought my 34 Roadster, (which is now about 2 months from completion), it came with some spares, extras, etc. One of those extras is a non-louvered hood. I have been told it's an original, after-market hood, period correct. I don't know if I have a picture; I broke my leg so I won't be going to my other garage to take pictures anytime soon, but I'll see if I can find one. Anyone know the history or story behind these hoods?
Could not find a picture, so I will have to get someone to take one for me. The hood looks just like the stock hood, fits just like the stock hood - just no louvers. I think I heard it called it a "Western Auto" hood?
Yes, sorry - I am talking about the sides. The top is the same, the latches are the same, the sides are solid - no louvers.
Honestly, I'd find it easier to believe that it is a Rootleib or some such after market item than a rare original Ford offering. I say this simply because I've never heard of one and I've been owning/driving 33-34's since the erly 70's, but I don't know everything either. I did however make my own pair back then. Tim
You paid $380 for that Tudor-SCORE!!!!!!!! Good buy!!!!!! Now I’m going to have to hunt that feature down in my R&C’s!!!!!! I don’t care what anyone says, about the 70’s cars, especially HOT RODS!!!!!
Kev: It was featured in a R&C quarterly some time in '79. There was a red '34 Phaeton and '32 roadster on the cover. Also in Rod Action from the same timeperiod with a brown Model A vicki on the cover.
