Seen this in Colorado last year while riding the back roads Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Not mine but it almost was. These pics were taken at a car show in 1960 or 61. It was painted aqua primer with gold and white scallops. I ran into it for sale many years later painted in peacock Metalflake and missed it by two days. Don't know if it still exists or not.
This is my grandson's Elky we finished a few years ago. We spent 2 years, every weekend doing a ground-up complete rebuild. Had a great time with him. He sold it to raise money to move from Calif to Texas a couple years ago. Also grew to 6'6" and didn't fit the car any longer!!
Gene Bare's '58 Nomad/El Camino https://www.lowrider.com/features/1958-chevrolet-nomad-nomadness/ (Lowrider Magazine)
That 58 Chevy is one of the best conversions that I have seen done. Looks well proportioned and factory prototypeish.
The car started as a 4-door wagon, with the doors extended rearward. No mention is made of a chop. http://www.lowrider.com/features/1958-chevrolet-nomad-nomadness/ Another truly outstanding feature is the beautifully etched trim used throughout. (From lowrider.com) That may still be , but that crazy pitched roof came from the factory on '58 Nomads.
