https://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-Ford-...XtzfQh30i4jB1NKt638Z4%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc does anyone know anything about this car? I had it on my watch list but I didn't think I had the funds. Now I see what it sold for and I am just wondering if this is for real or a fake sale or what? just curious if anyone knows anything about it.
The winner could have put in an opening automatic bid of let's say $8000 and if the sellers reserve was $5800 after that anyone that bids over $5800 is out bid until the automatic bid runs out at $8000,so the guy that bid $6000 got out bid by $100 and that would have continued by $100 increases till it hit the $8000. I think automatic bidding kind of ****s because human bidders are losing to a machine.
Putting in a max bid is different than using a Snipe program that waits till the last seconds of an auction and bids for you, so someone can't respond fat enough.
what was weird about that listing was that the photos of the car were very few. No shots of the interior, none of the engine compartment, trunk, etc. It is 2018 after all, what does it take to get a few shots of things like that to post online? Unless I could view the car in person or maybe if the owner emailed me photos I would not have even looked at it again. But that is just me, YMMV.
This 52 Merc. went for $5000.00 on craigslist last month. I was the 3rd in line but the first guy that looked at it bought it. he would have been a fool not to have.
Yes that price and the post for the car sounds almost unreal. Seems quite low for if it is as good as described. I have done the automatic bidding on ebay before, I just post the max price I'm willing to pay and let it go. Not gonna outbid somebody on anything if it goes higher than I want to spend on it. I bet a lot of snipe bidders suffer buyers remorse after simply outbidding on stuff at the last second, just to win.
