Not that kind of box, steering box. I have a knock-off Vega box on the '34, and with 350 miles on it, it developed noticable play. I did a little search, and found a reference here to a Speedway tech video about these things, which suggested after 500 miles (or less, evidently) they'd need adjustment. So, I crawled underneath it tonight after a little drive, burned my knuckles on the headers doing it, but it did indeed tighten up, and drives much nicer now. I did read the various comments here on how these little boxes are junk, but, I'll give it a go and see if it stays tight longer. The Speedway video suggests that they usually require a couple of initial adjustments as they "wearing in" and then require less attention. We shall see, it feels great again right now.
^^^ Made in the USA? Bet Speedway's boxes aren't. Low cost materials and labor make for low cost (often quality, too) parts.
If it is needing a few adjustments to "wear in", you better change the lube in it, as it will be full of metal particles.
Went through two of those mystery boxes on our 32 roadster. Both wore out quickly! Opened them up to find worn out br*** top bushing, etc. No cast in markings of any kind on the box exterior. So just where does this stuff come from? Tried again with a real Borgeson box ordered directly.
Another one, go with a Borgeson and be done with it Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
