Can someone tell me where the two Vacuum lines ( one small and one bigger) that are on the heater temperature regulator valve go to? I have ordered a manual but it isnt here yet. The attached pic shows the valve and the vacuum lines that I am talking about. The Car is a 56 Victoria.. Thanks heater control valve.jpg

y block vacumn.jpg manifold heat valve.jpg On my 54 - it runs from engine manifold thru f/wall to a "tee" fitting - "tee's" off to wiper motor and down to heater valve, from valve to goes back thru f/wall at upper rt corner of heat input duct back over to heat control valve on the engine(pic 2 ) where heater core hose attaches to motor. pic 1 shows 2 side by side va***n (hard )lines coming off of fuel pump
right above left valve cover, 1 small runs to carb, 1 large runs to hose that goes thru f/wall to the "t" fitting under dash. hope that helps

Thanks buymeamerc for the great and detailed reply. My 56 is far from original so I am not concerned so much with regulating the temperature etc, my main concern is having a working defrost system as it is a requirement here and will have to be working when I go for inspection prior to hitting the road. That said, is there a way to byp*** this valve and just have full heat when the heat is required? Or will I end up with a no heat situation if I byp*** it? Also I am running a Cleveland and I am not using the heat control valve on the engine.

I think if you leave it out you will have heat all the time.

Thanks, lots of elbow grease! I know I will miss something but here is a list:

    Power rack and pinion.
    Chev van tilt column.
Dual Master Cylinder and all brake parts new.
351 Cleveland, mild cam, flat tops ....
C6 with stall converter and shift kit.
    Fresh 9" with 3.5's
    New fuel tank and lines
Lowered 3" (Aerostar springs and blocks)
    Merc Turnpike Cruiser skirts.
57 Lincoln Premier hubcaps for now..
