Customs 1956 Pontiac power steering box

Hoping someone has rebuilt their 56 Pontiac PS box and can tell me what the kit number was or will a regular Saginaw PS kit work. Any info will help Thanks

Might check Hollanders interchange manual to see if a newer kit would work. Might be same as Buick, Olds, or Cad boxes too.

 

For those that are interested will be taking it apart to get part #s will post.

 

For those that want the info took it apart today the pitman shaft seal part #5683373 and the worm shaft seal #5682846 a quick check parts are redily available.

 

Also a side note a 55 and 56 Pontiac PS column won't interchange ha ha played a joke on myself. Needless to say will have a 56 Pontiac PS column for sale.

Well I'm deep into the changeover using the 605 box if any body wanting to change thers over no problem if you want any info couple of unanswered questions the article didn't cover.
