Hot Rods Whitewalls or Blackwalls

So I Photoshopped some wide whites and steels wheels onto my AV8. Trying to decide if I like it well enough to pull the trigger on ordering them. Which ones do you like?

 

Looks soooooo much better with the Blackwalls.

 

I have wide whites on my '46 Wagon, but in your case I like the blackwalls. Why not have two sets of wheels and tires and change off once in a while?

That was the thought, keep both sets. But if nobody likes the whitewalls, why even bother.

I am a whitewall fan but voted for the blackwalls for your truck. It just looks right for the truck. You could change the wheel color if you want to brighten up the wheel tire combo a little. Nice truck BTW.

Don’t care for the light colored rim on the whitewall.
And top it all off, I have whites on my pickup.

 

To each their own,don't think of it as nobody likes the whitewalls,do you want them and if so you are the only person that matters.

BTW,I like them but the rims need to match the the GREEN color of the truck. HRP

 

I like 'em. I also like the wires and blackwalls. I like @woodiewagon46 's idea of having 2 sets and changing them once in awhile.

 

My pickup had blackwalls and black wires but I decided to shake it up.



I liked it better with a shorter bed,white walls and steelies. HRP

Back in the '70s there was an article in the Model A Ford clubs magazine the Restorer, about a woman who wanted Apple Green wheels and the guy wanted black on their '31. Her side had the green and his was black. The article went on to say not too many people even noticed.

 

Black walls for sure but not with a black wheel. I'm not a big fan of that combo or WW's with a white/very light colored wheel. At a distance they blend and look funny. BTW, your truck rules.......the best looking pickup design in automotive history.

 

My 2 cents worth : whites with red wheels & caps of your choice. But hey, it's your ride......don't worry what i or anyone else thinks. I'm just an old school fool who likes Lancer & Olds spinners. mike

 

Black walls say hot rod to me, white walls say custom, restored, or just happy. I Second Muttley on the dark/light wheel thing. I lean toward the www on your truck.

 

Dependent on the car I can be a fan of bolth.. but in your case black..

The no black wheel and wall thing is dashing my vision of the lakes and even the stuff not considered nice was great a lot of the time.. imo..

 

Here it is with body color wheels or red as many have suggested. Better?

 

Blackwalls all the way. I think the white walls are ugly looking. Don't match it at all. Screws the whole truck up , And that is a nice looking truck....................

 

man don't ever build a hot rod for every one else to like build what you like, you are the one looking at it every day, that being said I am a fan of the black walls but like both sets of wheels jmo Tom

Wow, those red rims are a quick way to ruin the look of a nice truck, - just too many colours. Green, black, red, off white firewall, white side walls.
(Just my opinion)
As others have said, black walls.
Either black rims or rims the same colour green as the body .

 

black wall, body color wheels or a contrasting color but not red. I LIKE red, but it's been done so much it has become trite. YMMV.

 

Whitewalls for kustoms and stockers, black walls for hot rods.

 

I have WW on my 28 and I like them but I get " Your truck is cute " from the ladies. So if you want to be cute go whites if you want to be bad *** go black.

Thanks for all the input. I decided to go with 1940 16” wheels with Merc caps. Now, leave the wheels black or paint them ivory?
