Im buyin a 56 Pontiac from STL, MO. Im plannin on flyin in and drivin home. The sketchy part, is the current owner has never taken it on a road trip, and its not his daily driver, so while he says it runs pretty good, he cant say if it'll make it. Its about 630 mi, and 10 hours of straight drive time. It should be fine, but who knows.

I was wonderin if I could get some contact info for some hambers along the way who might be able to help me out in case who knows what happens. Im just tryin to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Even if all you could do is steer me towards the nearist parts house, if thats what I happen to need it would be a help.

Im takin a tool box, but I can only take so much. Im also takin my AAA card which is good for a few tows up to 100mi, so between those 2 things I should be covered for most of the basic little stuff

Ill probably be goin some time next week. Ill try have my flight come in at around 6:30a, meet the guy, and try to drive as straight through as possible. But hey, who know, if any of yall know of any must see anything along the way, I might take a few breaks....

Heres the yahoo map of the route Ill probably be taking: http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?new...lon,+MO&country=us&tcsz=Plano,+TX&tcountry=us

    Thanks a ton in advance.

    Thanks,
    Cory

  4. You also said the ElCamino you sold me was a driver :( ....... I hope
this guy's description is more accurate than yours was. :(

Take your AAA card and have them meet you just outside town.

The people who make up the Yahoo maps have never been further from home than the nearest Wal-mart.Your route from O'fallon Mo to PlanoTx. should be as follows:I-70 east to I-270 south to I-44 west to I-35 south at Oklahoma City to DFW.Maybe 20 miles further, but at least 3 hours quicker and a lot easier.

Alright, then. Lets get a few things straight.

    1. I never told you it was a driver.

    2. When I sold it, I had only driven it a total of about 2 miles. All the more reason I wouldnt have told you it was a daily driver.

    3. I also told you that I hadnt had time to work on it, ore really check it out good to figure out exactly what it needed.

    4. I was selling it because I didnt have the time or money to do what I had wanted with it. I told you that.

    5. It ran. But it ran like shit. You knew that when you made an offer on it, and you knew that when you bought it. I cant find the "FS" post for it, but I found another post where I mentioned it was for sale and said "the 350 smokes like a chimney.....". http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70499

    6. If for some reason, you took what you wanted to hear and see, and some how twisted it into something that the 59' elky was a daily driver, than why the hell did you show up with a trailer to pick it up when it was less than an hour drive back to your place? Is it because I told you it wasnt driveable?

    7. You had all the chances you wanted to check out the car. Over, under, in all around, hear it run and so on. All for about the $15-20 of gas it cost you to drive over here.

    8. I sold one car I said was a driver, and the guy drove it all the way back to Arizona, and only problem was a loose wire on the tail lights. Another guy bought my 59' Bel-air and was drove it back to CANADA. I never heard of even the slightest problem with that.

I wish youd be a man about this and come to me if you had a problem, insted of blind siding me with some unfounded bull shit. I have a very good reputation and I take it seirously. But hey, now this is just gonna turn into another shit talking message board drama. But hey, thats how real men take up problems with people, right?

  9. It wasn't driveable and it wasn't safe, that's why you didn't asking price price.
There's no way Rocky could have driven it home as suggested.

I did get what I paid for. and was happy with the transaction.
It should be on the road in another couple months.

Cool, thats a relief. I advised rocky agandst driving it back. I was told by the prevous owner that he drove it once a week 30 miles each way to and from work. You and I both know thats BS.

Sweet. I thought you were saying something diffrent all together.

I wanna see it when its on the road, should be pretty bad ass.

    Adios,
