Just snagged a SW "Hollywood". Came with keyed ignition switch, several lights (turn signals, brights and 1 other light) and all gauge holes were filled but one. 2 gauges are SW winged, curved glass but the faces are almost illegible. One is fuel, the other is oil pressure. There is a square logo 80 mph SpeedO, and H2O guage, a square logo volts gauge with a 70's black bezel, and a non logo'd +/-60 amp, ampmeter. The tach is a 3K Sun. Guessing this is all from a boat. The backing plate looks like stainless. It came wit another 85mph Sun speedO with 0 miles on it, it has KPG line in blue. Don't know what I am gonna do with it, as it doesn't go with either of my projects, but couldn't pass it up for the price. Just thought it was a neat find.
S/W "Bos'n" panels..the blue one is older to fit rear mount gauges..the other is newer (50's) to fit the standard front mount 2-1/16" gauges. Plus, a shot of the original 50's catalog, where the Bos'n is described.
There were a bunch of different inserts available, i beleive they were all available for quite a while but not sure, black wrinkle, black line chrome (yours) mahogony engine turned, bright chrome squares, maroon basket weave, maroon wrinkle, brass diamonds, gold flower design, chrome stripes, dull chrome basket weave. this was taken out of a 1949 flyer i have.
heres a few more ive collected up and put together, made a new instert for this one i have oen with the same surround but different gauge layout i know this one is a gm diesel panel but it has SW large logo gauges and the little/big number speedo
AC Spark Plug Division[edit] Billboard for AC spark plugs inVancouver circa 1926 In 1899, Albert Champion came to the U.S. as a champion bicycle racer. Albert found a job with the Stranhan brothers who had started Champion Spark plug Co in 1905 or 06 and began production in 1907. Albert was not happy in his job because he had no control over his work. He already had at least one spark plug patent (from 1898) before leaving Europe. In 1908 he went to see William C. Durant of the Buick Motor Co. Durant ask to see some of his prototypes. Buick at that time was using Rajah spark plugs. Just found this Stewart Warner "Ensign" 5 gauge panel in a box of old Hot Rod magazines I had in the basement. I've been wondering where I put it for the last 11 years..... Time to build a Hot Rod around it so it will feel at home.
I thought I would bring this back up, along with ask a question - does anyone know what these finishes on the inserts would be called? It's kinda neat to see something other than engine turned, but I haven't been able to find any info on if these types of finishes are still available. What is the finish on this Mate insert called? Is it commercially available in sheets? Same thing for this Ensign... And for this 2-holer... Any info or links greatly appreciated! Thanks!

On top of finding a set of 60s Inglewood Pos-A-Ttraction recap 10x15 brand new/old slicks that had never been used for my Mysterion clone, I also stumbled onto this Eelco dash panel for the project. This is the identical one Roth used and I have never seen one before or since
My S&W Mate panel with S&W Wing gauges. I bought the panel off a fellow Hamber, painted the chrome panel black hammertone and added the Wings gauges. Panel will go in a '32 dash in my '28 roadster project. Still looking for the matching Wings amp and water temp. Thanks, --louis
@Tim_with_a_T Surprised no one ever answered your question as i suspect there are several more qualified to answer it than me... The top is a criss cross brushed pattern. taped vertically evenly spaced and then brushed, retaped horizontally and brushed. The second has been machined some way or another, i assume just with an end mill. Third is the same as the first except different pattern. this can also be done with acid etching. Stewart warner actually and names for all the inserts Black Wrinkle, black lined chrome, mahogany, engine turned, bright chrome squares, maroon basket weave, maroon wrinkle, brass diamonds, gold flower design, chrome stripes, dull chrome basket weave. i took that directly from an old stewart warner catalog i have Ive searched for the different insert types for years, i myself have black wrinkle, engine turned, bright chrome squares, black lined chrome, and i also have an insert that has horizontal stripes that is for sure an original insert. i love the odball inserts too. cool stuff.
