Ever since I was a little kid I have dreamed of owning a '46-'48 Ford Woody. Well, yesterday afternoon my dream was realized. I took delivey of a *****in' '47 Ford Woody. I'm totally stoked. The car is not a restored vehicle, but a very, very, very nice stocker. She runs and drives beautifully, hell, the original radio even works. It's hard to belive that I actually own one of these, especially one this nice. Man, I'm diggin' it. Here's a link to a picture of the car. http://www.woodiesusa.com/vehicles4sale/47Ford_Maroon/images/1.jpg
Congrats. That woody looks great. I always said I wouldn't own a car that I couldn't modify to suit my taste, but I think I'd make an exception on this one. It looks good the way it is and there are not too many original ones left. Enjoy it.
Nice ride - "Monsoon Maroon" always looks good. My dad has built a few woodies. His first was the exact same as yours. Let me know if you need any info on parts, etc. Woodies are quite unique in ways but some parts interchange with other models.
And when you woke up today and went and looked at the car, it was morning wood.................sorry, couldn't resist. Beautiful car though. Congrats on getting your dreamcar, thats great!
Cool Mike! Probably my favorite of all the 41-48 Fords... So what happened, did you fill the ashtrays on the other cars and needed a new one?
I have a set of 15x6 chrome "Gennie" wheels with Firestone whitewalls, 8.20x15s for the rear, 7.10x15s for the front. I'll swap those on to the car for a "San Onefre 1962" look and a nice rubber rake. A few well chosen and well placed surf decals and that's it for now. In the near future, prabably some Fenton headers and twice pipes with Smithys. Other than that, what's there to do but drive the hell out of her?
Are you gonna drop the axle? Please say yes... Very cool. I used to have a 48 Olds woodie (now Sawzall's) but it was too much project for me. I can't wait to see him finish it.
WOOD IS GOOD! - THATS A GOOOOD LOOKING MACHINE!! heres one my Dad bought in 1973 for 1,300.00 & it was maroon just like yours, he drove it home & it looked just like yours. all we did to his was a dropped front crossmember, then a 327, th400, 9 inch rear , chevelle power steering box, tilt colum & air. never pulled it off the frame or touched the wood or interior except we painted the dash, fenders & hood & had a tan top put on to be different. under $4000.00 in it total & we've put THOOOOUSANDS of miles on it. ITS A GREAT CRUISER with 'MEGA' room inside. -- we kept everything we took off it in case we ever go back all original again.
WOW! Geez, Mike, all you gotta do is lower one of your rides! hahaha! That maroon is gorgeous, I love your wheel idea, give it a nice early 60's rake and, man, you'll have it! Barnett's old tub and now this.....wow!
