I have tried both the Grant 4267 and the 4268 kit on my Fairlane. The 4267 is the kit Summit and Grant says will work. Neither one will fit my steering shaft Both go on just enough to let the big bolt start and then about 3 threads and it just stops. ALSO I need some sort of a spacer to hold my upper steering shaft bearing in place...any help would be greatly appreciated. What kit will work ?

Look at this diagram for parts 3517 & 3518 & 3520 these can fall apart and fall down in the column they used the same one for years the ones in my '54 were also used in late 80's trucks and vans. See below.

I recently used the 4267 kit and mine would not go down so I used a die grinder to camfer the back of the adaptor. The shaft of my 53 was tapered. There’s no way it would have ever fit if I didn’t camfer it.. I also cleaned my splines up with a 6” triangle file. I called the grant help line and they said they’d never heard of it before. Well...that now makes two of us. Somethin must be wrong with their kit
