Price drop (again) $6900 Please note that "Custom" in this case, is the Mercury model name. Car is stock, with exception of paint and seat covers. reference car introduction thread https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1955-mercury-may-cause-unsubscribe.864220/ For sale is a truly, mostly original 1955 Mercury. 292 Y block, factory 4 barrel 3 speed standard (3 on the tree) This a no frills car with no heater, no radio, no clock, no power steering When a friend of mine purchased the car from the surviving son of the original owner, he swore that the 42xxx miles, at the time, were the total miles. The only evidence that contradicts those miles are that the doors sag a little. The windshield, pedals and valve train indicate low mileage. I have owned the car about 5 years. The car needs all/most steering suspension bushings replaced, but still drives exceptionally well. Also, the vacuum secondaries are not "kicking in". I need to take a look at it.. Otherwise the car is in good running and driving condition. I put 200 miles on this past week. It recently passed Texas safety inspection and is registered with normal passenger car plates. - Lights, brakes, horn, wipers, etcetera all work. Gauges and speedometer work as well. The atrocious paint The car was painted with house paint sometime in the late 70s. I have sanded some off, some has worn off and some is still present. The preservation worked. The body is solid. Note that there is a small hole in one rocker, though the surrounding metal is good and the only significant dent is partially hidden by trim on left fender bubble. The back seat has been recovered and the front seat has covers tacked on over original interior. The door panels have matching amateur upgrades in sections. I have lost the passenger side armrests. Other Mercury and Ford model armrests are the same and are available. Please PM for phone number to discuss anything about this car. will post very low quality video later today Pictures shown were taken today, with the exception of the as found in barn picture. $9500 View attachment 3847443
