Technical Has any of you guys ever seen one of these?

First time I saw one of these was on a legitimate looking drag rod waiting in line to make a run, engine sounding very strong. Caused me to do a double-take; still had eight tennis balls in place!

I have a 3/4 ton Q/C in my 29 roadster with a 425 Nailhead a T400, I've changed the gears 2 times once when I put them in wrong and a second time to get 3.0 ratio for the street. Also did a DPI Black Gold track differential and it is very quiet like a stock differential. JW

The polished version was close to $500.00 (Ford 9") 30 years ago.

 

I am putting a real quick change in my car just because I want to. Will probably never really need the real purpose for it and am probably not too smart for putting that much money in it. Its just to get the look I like. I think these have the same purpose. Who other than someone that hasn't matured uses a quick change on the street for what it was designed for. Not everything is about performance. Customs are all about looks and the guys that build them don't have expectations of performance. These parts are just middle ground between looks and performance. As far as not being traditional, all the cars being built here are only resemblances of traditional cars since they are being built now not then. Quick changes were around then and these parts resemble what was done then just like every car being built on this forum.Are the guys building them now and not back then fake ? Are the new welds, paint, tires fake because those parts weren't around back then ? never understand why some guys think everybody else has to lean toward one side or the other. There could be an argument that only liking one way or the other only says your narrow minded, not better or smarter than the guy that has something you cant make yourself approve of. Its a big world with lots of different kinds of people.

 

I love this fake stuff. It's part of the hot rod tradition. Hole about fake Buick brakes? Or fake generators? Fake '32 Ford's? Back in the day, my friend had a single exhaust pipe which morphed into duals at the back. This is just ingenuity, which is what we are all about.

fake blowers
fake quick change
fake mechanical injection... the list goes on
all should be banished, 9 out of 10 of these things are just adding weight and anybody with half a clue can tell a mile away they are just that fake.

Any problems with cooling the 425.

 

No it runs about 185 - 195 Deg. with no hood, It gets hot in traffic after 5 Min. standing still with a re cored 29 Ford Radiator On very So CAl Hot summer days it likes Night driving mush better. Happy Anneversary!
