When off doing many of my field and farm searches I came across a late 20s early 30s REO truck with this m***ive (what appears to be) oil bath air cleaner setup. Sadly these are the only angle/photos that I got and I am unable to read any sort of name from it. It’s about 3hours away otherwise I would go back. I’m guessing that these are after market??? And used in very dusty field environments... any thoughts on brand, make or year? Looks like it says “*****MAX (or) MAY MFG. CORP.” ?

Looks like it should say Hoover on the side.

I'd say you hit it real close as an aftermarket unit designed to be used in the fields. I've got a big dry filter box with hose and top that fits a 4 barrel that was used on trucks out in the fields under similar conditions out in the shed. I always figure it may have been used up in the Basin after Mt St Helens blew. I picked it up at an auction around 1990. It's huge or it would be great on an off road 4x4.

If I can figure out the vintage I think it would look mean as hell on a prewar **. Dirt track** racer or Indy build [emoji41][emoji482].
