Everywhere I look for a C6 I am told "is this for a 66 or newer motor"? Doesnt a C6 just bolt on?
    I Have a 1960 FE 352.
If anyone has done this can I get a bone on how to do it.
Do I need to cut the floor? Or get driveline cut? different flywheel or different torque convert? Any help welcomed.

    Thanks in advance

I think it depends on if it's a truck or car I was going to do my truck but it involved moving crossmember for longer tail shaft on C 6 (there are two lenghts on tail shafts also truck is shorter) the drive shaft had to be shortened and remade gave up and rebuilt the c5 or forfomatic and it works fine

for a T-bird (squarebird), you shift the crossmember back and use the rear of the two holes per side and drill a new hole (1/side). IIRC, the gear selector will be off by a little, but people seem to like the swap.

The c-6 is a one piece case with a non-removeable bellhouseing......all aluminum........there are different tail shaft lengths........and some have slip in yokes and few for HD applications have 4-bolt flange for the drive shaft to bolt to.........they made 3 different bellhouse patterns........one for small block fords.........one for big block fords(newer 429-460....also 351/400M) and for older FE big blocks(331,352,360,390,406,410,427,428) you just need one for FE......then work on trans mounts and driveshaft lengths.....

Model 40, knows his stuff.I used to be "uninFORDm" just like you, but luckily, I had a bleeds blue Ford buddy, that got me lined out.Its not that tuff once you get lined out an all the different types of engine groups, ect. But I must admit, when I first got interested-351 winsdor-351 modified and 351 cleveland, just sounded like way too many 351s to me! But like he stated, you need a c-6 for the FE block, car or 2 wheel drive truck should work, you may need to do some ****** mount changes and driveshaft adjustments though.

And whats the story with using a C6 on an early MEL 430, mines a 58? The 462 MEL used a C6 so what is different?
Ive got a different answer every time I ask so still trolling!

Any 67 and up C-6 should work,66s might be hard to find since it was the first year. You will need to get the flywheel and starter too,a late 60s to late 70s FMX might be a bolt in. Jeff

When swapping to the C6 you will probably need to shorten your driveshaft, move your crossmember. I don't think the yoke is the same but I'm not sure. You will need a flexplate, torque convertor and be sure your C6 is for a 352, 390 or a 428.
