Its okay but I have already put 3 in blocks on it but I want more. If i hit a healthy bump it hits the bump stops witch I forgot to remove "idiot"

take out a couple leafs with the blocks. that'll bring you down a littel closer to the earth. Get ready for a bumpy ride though, that's the price you pay to look cool though

I have a 54 Chev, de arched the springs 2" and put in 2" blocks. My drive shaft was hitting the tunnel, and diff hiting the frame on big bimps.
C notched the frame, made the tunnel a little bigger and now no problems, will go down another 2" this summer.

ditch the blocks, take out half of your springs, and go get the rear airbags and pump from a mid 90's Lincon mark 7 LSC then add the frame notch....:D

    you gotta bag that 53.....
smoother ride and when the rough roads are the only route, you can pump it out of the weeds!
    easy conversion imho....

any more block and you get below the scrub line, and the stock leaves are too wimpy for open drive to begin with. De-arched or posies springs would help. After we close on the new house I am going to re-work mine, I'm not real happy wih the blocks.

Ditch the blocks!!, notch it and bag it. Theres no other way to go on those cars If you want it to sit right and ride right. I had my 54 lookin good on the stock stuff rode like garbage, I bagged it without the notch, and its looks good when parked and deflated not as low as I like. Im goin to put in one of the Notches from Gambino Kustoms in about a month. Designed specifically for 49-54 chevys. Checkem out he's a HAMBER too

Well the steering is okay but there is a little bump steer, someone many years ago before me has cut and heated the front coils.I put 3in dropped uprights on a freinds 54 and I still have him by a 1/2 in in the front.

Iam thinking about bagging the rear but not notching it it would sit low enough for me, I am thinking a 2 link with panhard bar with the bags either over the rear or on the link bars I have heard that when you put the bags there that you get a much better ride.

  15. This is my '51 (same frame) almost as low as it'll go without a notch (before I cut the bumpstops). If you're gonna go through the work of a 4-link rear and bags, why not notch it too?? I second the recommendation of the Gambino Kustom's notch kit...I've seen it in person and on a '54...it's top notch (sorry, no pun intended).

  16. i just ripped out my leaf setup.. picking up my 4 link rear axle today, i had 2 blocks in mine with an air over leaf setup.. it went low till it hit the frame. I'd go with mikekillstheday's suggestion, very easy to do. Oh and make sure your brake lines arent running above your axle because they will be squished in no time.

The reason that I don't realy want to notch the rear is that if I every wanted to ever, for any reason, put the fixed suspension back in I can. and with a custom 2 link I can use the factory front leaf hangers as mounting points for the link bars. Plus I plan on leaving the front like it is because I want that Ass Dragger look.
