Very general but I’m wondering if there is a positraction unit for a 1957 Buick rear end? I’m placing a ‘66 425 to a factory 3 speed in my ‘57 Special 2Dr Ht. And to ***ist I’d like to put a posi unit in. Thoughts, suggestions Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Do not believe that Buick had a positraction in 1957/58. I know you are going to be very disappointed in coupling your 425 to the stock 1957 manual transmission. That transmission was only offered in the 250 HP Special as it was determined that it would not hold up behind the 300 HP Century, Super and Roadmaster engines. A very light weight transmission at best. You would be better served to use a 6 bolt transmission from a 54/56 Buick as the were a much stronger transmission, however they were behind a 322 and I am not positive they will bolt up to the 364/401/425 engines.
