Event Coverage Road Trip - HR Power Tour 2018

Just watched the Power Tour come by my place couple of hours ago. Lots of great and not so great rides. I was envious sitting there in my lawn chair. Whatever you’re ride is, looked like fun to me. One note, 99% of the old car folks waved. Brand new check book/ payment cars, about 30% waved.

Fellow Portlander: I would have loved those first LA to Detroit PT's.
Did the 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and currently returning from 2018. Drove from Portland. The last three in my1936 Chevy Standard. Made great friends. Maybe we could hook up sometime.

I went to the show in Raleigh and then drove to the show in Charlotte. I enjoyed it, there were lots of people just hanging out on the side of the road watching the cars go by and waving. Lots of new challengers, camaros, and mustangs though. Almost everything had an LS swap...

 

Didn’t know we were p***ing your place, or I would have stopped to say hi. Pretty good chance I waved, though.

Rolling through one little town, I found myself and my 37 Chevy in the middle of a line of 6-8 new Camaros. A little boy standing on the side with his father stared at us, then pointed at me and exclaimed “that’s not kosher”. Got a chuckle out of that one.

Sorry I missed hooking up with you, Seth. 2nd alternator is still going strong, though.

The route this year had a lot of great scenery, nice little towns to roll through, and some cool side trips. Lots of nice cars, of all types and vintages.

Good job on training your navigator. I followed a 57 Chevy for a while. I could see through the back window that he was running a GPS on the dash, but his young daughter was in her car seat in the back with an atlas open, clearly following where they were. Reminded me of being a kid in the back of the family wagon, reading road signs, and following our progress on the atlas maps.

We went in 2011, long haulers. Had a blast but got a blood clot and was on blood thinners for a year. So, stop and walk around every chance you get.
