Fathack beat me to the garage today. He was here working when i got home from running some errands. He was busey getting the old lines and useless brackets and scraping the old undercoating off the chassis. He looked like he was having sooo much fun I started marking out the chop and measuring every thing. By about 1:30 or so it was time to wack it off after that i got to work on the chop. There are some shots of the first cut and shit. After rigging up my complex support system of ratchet straps. the final cut was made. I got a little taken back by how far off all the pillars were. But after many more relief cuts and a phone call to tuck for the when and where of it all things started getting sorted out. Right about that time Roadstar showed up with a 6 pack and some chips. Not soon after he jumped into the fray and helped guide me along with some of the more difficult parts of the a pillers and such. He stuck around long enough to get help get the c pillars lined up and clamped in place and about that time i called it a day... Now all this time FatHack was mr busy body over on the chassis. He got the whole deal cleaned up and ready for paint and then started tearing into the rear brakes. When out of no where jumps a wolverine spider on top of the drum!!! He allmost stuck his face right onto the guy when Roadstar saw it and yelled out. This fucker was huge and after his photo shoot hack shot him with some brake clean and beat him to death with a 2 lb sledge then after spraying more brake clean on him he finaly died. So after the wolverine spider was gone it was time for him to get to the rear springs and such. For some reason shackels and springs like hack cause when ever i try to take them apart they are allways frozen up and i have cut it all apart. But mr hacksaw kept his wepon in his holster and got it all apart armed with nothing but his ratchet OK here are are a bunch of pics and im sure hack will chime in with more details and such... o yea look for the pic of hack carring out the piss bucket cause i refuse to dump it when it gets full Parts car comes tommrow and hopefully a bunch more progress like todays...
I had fun man, but the piss bucket was full so I had to go That is gonna make a nice car, it's really solid. Stay focused and don't rush it and you will end up with a nice car. OMG that spider was huge ...Later dude
Big hairy spiders suck...glad you excercised your extermination skills. So...I guess this means we won't expect you and Fathack over to come "supervise" anytime soon? Nice progress. Play nice. Cut twice, weld once. Finish weld so no one can criticize... If your car drives to ALL THE WAY to Billetproof, I want my pedal back. In fact, I'll sweeten the deal. If this thing goes to Billetproof under it's own power, as in-you drive it there, I'll let you keep that brake pedal! (I know, I'm reaching at this point...) Cool, I like the progress & the updates...
Ha Ha...when I first started on the chassis this morning, a fat little round-body spider lazily wandered out of a hole in the frame and I just carried him over to a corner of the garage and let him go...but when Rudy spotted that big guy just as I was reaching for the brake drum to pull it off, we figured he had to GO! (Bryan has two dogs and there's small children in the neighborhood...and just cuz there's a painting of Godzilla on the garage wall doesn't mean the big green lizard would be there to stomp this spider like he did in the cheesey old 4 o'clock movies!) Remember that big spider that spit webbing out his mouth all backwards like in the Godzilla movies?! I think we met his little brother today! Anyhow, I got the various brackets, lines, wires and cables off the frame that we're not using today and scraped the undercoating off for paint. Tomorrow I'll swing by Red's Springs on the way to Bryan's and pick up some new u-bolts and other bits. By tomorrow evening, if we get all the parts and everything falls into place, I should have the rear axle re-hung on the modified springs with lowering blocks and the brakes ready to get rebuilt. Sorry I didn't talk to ya much, Rudy...I'd been at it since this morning and was a little tired...just trying to keep things rolling at a steady pace on my side of the shop! Bryan made great progress on the chop, and he has the Magic Eye when it comes to getting "the look"...this is gonna be one sweet looking shoebox! Gotta sleep...the rooster crows early tomorrow!
You guys are really moving along! Once you get the monkey finished, you can swing up this way and help me, I only get to work in the evenings...
you should have captured that spider and then encased it in some clear acrylic from the hobby shop...it would have made a killer knob! If you keep getting spiders out of it you may have to rename it the arachmobile.
haha spider monkey does have a nice ring to it eh Damn we should have cought that fucker now... Thats ok the parts car just got dropped off im sure its just as full of spiders
I was just going to say... there may be more in the car somewhere. You have to incorporate the spider name in there somewhere... its meant to be. Maybe Arachnophobia?
man your on a roll this morning... my face is sunburnt and feels funny when i touch it i think i need to wear my mask when i tack weld
all i have to say is canted b-pillers suck to make and now i neeed more cut off wheels and sawzall blades damn the 80000 relief cuts. back to work...
Just hardtop it hahah,,,,,,, oh,,,,,,,, nevermind Sorry bro you left youself wide open, quit your winein and get to choppin
I fuckin hate spiders, kill 'em all. Ever seen a sun spider? Havasu guys know what I'm talkin about. Fuckin nasty, and they'll charge you.
If it helps to make up your mind as to it's name, the male Spider Monkey, pound for pound, has the largest genitalia of ALL primates... (cue the sound of a phonograph needle ripping across a record) ...The things you learn on Animal Planet at 4AM...
i had to come in and get the camera to take pics of hack working so i thouhgt i would check this... yea i think it may be spider monkey.. O and mike you will be glad to know we are using one of your shift knobs in this car
