Hot Rods Watch out for those steel plates !!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by big block styleline, Jun 26, 2018.

  1. Hello HAMB people, I'm looking for any company that is making front suspension parts for a 1950 Chevy Styleline factory suspension . I ran over a steel plate in the road and it really messed up my front lower control arm . So i'm thinking I'm going to rebuild the whole front end . Any good companies?

I would be extremely surprised that you will find newly manufactured A arms for your car. Maybe...on a long shot, someone has NOS pieces. Far more likely to find good used parts to put your Chevy back on the road. Or, the suggestion above may be worth considering.

    Which side?

  4. Control arms are the same left to right on 49-54 chevies . Only difference is the mounting hole for the sway bar end link.

I don’t think anyone is reproducing arms
All the wearable parts are available and not expensive either

A complete used front end is anywarr from 159-250
I bought a set of arms with uprights and drums for 50 bucks

Check flea bay and your local cl***ifieds you’ll find something
If it matters Canadian pontiacs used the same suspension as Chevy

    Hey BBS,
I just came across this place online and it might help in your search.
http://www.cl***ychevusa.com/ They are a So Cal company and I don't know them from the next guy in Santa Ana. It is just that they have a nice place and advertise on great looking old trucks. Looks and appearance seems to work well in all businesses. This one looks good...but your results may vary...

'53 - '62 Corvettes used most of the same front end components as the '49 - '54 Chevy. Check with the Vette vendors.

If no luck in the US, contact Norm D at Mid Canada Suspension, " midcansusp@shaw.ca ". Super guy to deal with and has specialized in vintage suspension parts for years. Bought everything from Chevelle center links to 39 Ford one piece kingpin kits from him. Highly recommended.

in my world Fatmanfab.com is the best place for front suspension parts for these cars unless you have a case of this stuff:

you can contact me (jeff) at national chevy, 651 778 9522. We've got many upper & lowers, as well as other suspension, & steering parts. Right now we have a pair of blasted/primed lowers if you still need them
