Yes I did. Took out the check valve, and got the grommet going the wrong way and in it went. Doh! Looking for suggestions how to get it out. Do I even need to get it out?- seems like it wouldn't get in the way of anything rolling around in the bottom of the booster... I tried duct taping some flexible tubing to the shop vac nozzle, but got nothing. Bent coat hanger wire with a hook on the end: whole lotta nothing. Any alternative to taking the booster out and turning it upside down and shaking it?
What is the application for the booster that you're referring to ? Any pictures ? Does the booster split ? Most of the boosters I've taken apart .... have their own series of tabs ... that when placed together, as two halves .... then twist into a locking position. There is a diaphragm and plunger, with ***ociated bladders, lock rings, and etcs. I can't see how you're going to get the grommet out without separating the booster into its individual pieces. Maybe someone else will be along with better info .....
Get a piece of fuel line and duct tape it to the shop vac hose so it ****s through the fuel line. Turn on the shop vac and stick the fuel line in the booster, aiming the hose toward the bottom the booster and see if you can trap it that way. Have a needle nose handy to grab the grommet if the hose trick catches it and use it to pull the grommet through the hole.
Easiest is just unbolt the MC from booster and remove booster, turn upside down and let gravity do the rest. Use your little finger to hook it up and extract. Bolt everything back together after you've installed the grommet correctly. Or try using one of these flexible expanding jaw tools to grab the grommet and pull it through hole?
