Event Coverage iola car show 2018?!

anyone planning on iola car show 2018 here in july? 12-14th in wisconsin?

 

Seems like a far away dream at this point...

 

i know right? its the only time of the year i look forward to lol. obviously with this post im itching

I'm there . Been vending there for about 5 years...Buying there for about 20. Great exercise walking up and down all those hills .Not a bad show but again NOT as great as it has been years ago. Just a sign of the times.

 

Oh I agree, Im not a lifer unfortunately but over the years I’ve noticed the same. Cheater I’ll swing by, I put my time off today as well and next week I’ll buy my sites if I can I usually hang in the Z area, I’ll have my yellow wagon bomber with the hub caps and music can’t miss me lol

I usually go on Thursday and Friday and sometimes Saturday if I have the ambition.

Makes for a nice 3 day vacation from being retired.

 

I was at the Fall Jefferson and was totally blown away what I was finding there. It was like ol' times. I guess people are realizing holding on their stash is getting them nowhere...and we're getting older. Some prices were realistic again!
If that is any indication of what's coming down the road, then a trip to Iola maybe worth your while.

 

I want to go to both this year now hearing that!

Not quite sure why they continue to have Jo Coddington every year? Boyd has been dead for years, and the show has been off at least as long. I personally don't care about there being celebrities there! I'm there for the swap, and I may make quick walk through the show at some point over the couple days I'm there.

 

Been to every one since I was 12 and I won't miss this one. They've been trying to get more foot traffic by offering bands and celebrity autographs and shit like that, I think it's some new people in charge, not sure how well that's working but it can't hurt.

One thing I will say is, last year I could only go on Saturday but I was happy to see more than usual vendors still set up on Saturday and I didn't have much trouble spending all the money I had with me. They are apparently changing the rules so if you are a vendor with reserved spots and you bail out on Friday night you aren't guaranteed your same spots again, and I think that's good. Gotta give the Saturday people something to see.

As for the celebrity appearances, I will say I went to 2 really boring World of Wheels shows in Green Bay because I wanted to meet Ed Roth and George Barris, got to meet them both and both were very nice, actually got to talk to Ed for a while although I didn't even think to ask for an autograph. So that can be a real draw. I'd like to meet Gene Winfield and Henry Winkler both, I might have to see when they're around and see if I can make that work.

 

Ya I’ve never met any of the celebs as well. I don’t even go see the rods in the show. I’m also there for the rusty gold!!! But I wouldn’t mind to say hello to the wink

Went to Iola I believe 28 years straight and now I have missed the last 10 years. I will probably miss this year too seeing I am finally just getting it back together and don't want to cut it to thin but I will be making it to the Jefferson one this year for sure that I have been missing the last few years too. that is just down the street from me. Will be nice to see old friends again and see how the swaps have changed since I disappeared.

 

Worth the trip just to see Rachel!

 

Apparently, I'm not as worldly as you guys. I know who all the men are on that flyer, but NONE of the women.
