Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jeff's '29 Roadster, Jul 7, 2018.

  1. Anyone able to transport on a trailer a running 1954 COE from Ohio to a Socal? It’s length is 10’.

Anyone able to help or refer somebody?

    Thanks
    Jeff

I've used this company a couple of times.

    https://www.uship.com/

It is kind of like a reverse ebay where folks offer their services to do your hauling for you.
I've had great success with it on the 3 occasions I've used it, but I have not shipped anything like a COE.
The trick is, all the big boys will come in with ridiculous prices thinking that you are desperate.
Just ignore them and wait for somebody who fits in your pay rate.
I've used 2 privateers, first guy hauled a 9" diff from NY to CO for $100 inside his boat, the 2nd was a gal relocating from MI to NV and hauled my disassemble Jaguar IRS in her U-Haul trailer for $135 and the 3rd was a small transport company working out of NE who hauled two sets of fenders for me from OR to CO and TX to CO but I forgot the prices.
I remember the last people even had tracking so I could see where my load was at all times.
If you can hook up with the right deal it can be quite a cheap proposition.
    Best of luck.

I just tried a broker to move my 52 FI from Indy to Roanoke, Va and after waiting two weeks for them to find truckers (apparently there’s a nationwide shortage) I ended up hauling it back myself.

The last shipper I used who I found on U ship would not deliver into CA, said he did not like going thru that border quarantine BS. Whereas private haulers don't need to pull in unless directed for an inspection, however, all hauling contractors need to pull in, from what I am aware...

I've used UTF transport several times - its run by a guy named Urban who has a semi and 7 or 8 car trailer. He makes dedicated runs from Ohio to the LA area monthly and does a mix of used cars and vintage project stuff. Not sure if the COE would be too tall for his rig? Can't hurt to ask - he's great to work with and always reasonably priced. 937-214-0432

  8. There are 3 QUALITY Transporters here on the Hamb : BenD, Racinman & Myself. Our ads can be found in the Hamb O Dex section, where you can see hundreds of all positive feedback/ references posted by the actual customers who have used our service in the past. Please keep in mind we are all three booked well in advance. I am currently booked 100% until after the Labor Day holiday & am scrambling to keep on schedule.

If you are forced to use Uship, please keep in mind that they are almost all brokers. Most have no idea who will actually be transporting your vehicle & NEVER give your phone number. If you do you will be bothered up to 4 MONTHS after you receive your vehicle by brokers asking if you still need it transported....Some in the middle of the night!
