What is better for drag racing transverse or parallel leaf. I prefer the look of transverse but would like to run the best performing front end Any thoughts will be appreciated Thanks in advance Andrew It’s always a good day when you wake up on the top side of the gr***! Set the bar low and your never upset !
I’ve also thought of using coil overs on straight axle for adjustability. It’s always a good day when you wake up on the top side of the gr***! Set the bar low and your never upset !
We are only in planning stages right now. All I know is we are using a 41 dodge cab and a 454 auto Going to build the frame ourselves, my son is a welder Other than that not much to tell yous
Someone is going to disagree with me but I like parallel leaves on a heavier car and transverse leaf springs in a lighter car. It is a personal thing I think and something I learned from an old timer a long time ago. I also have some very strong opinions for shackle placement on parallel leaf setups that most don't agree with but that is fodder for a different argument. LOL
If you are going to use coil overs you can use a cross leaf main leaf to locate your axle from left to right and a pair of radius rods for front to back.
That "mind reader" question again. VERY difficult to say without knowing what...the car is, what's it weigh and what height the front is set at..!! Mike
Sorry the the lack of info As I said we are in the planning stages and I was just curious which is a better setup in general. Guess I will need to get further along with design befor I ask too many questions
We are thinking of using Orange Blossom Special 2 as inspiration But make a pavement drag truck reminiscent of it. Big slicks small skinnies up front. Something different the. You normally see
Well we have come up with a plan of sorts. Using my 27T tudor. With big chevy on custom frame with straight axle and coilovers. Going to keep it street legal but built to race This moves my 250chevy to the 31 Briggs fodor which will be built as a cruiser for the wife and I and to take my grandson out for cruises
That's what I was thinking. The 454 set up we will be running got my brother 4200lb c10 in the high 11 seconds so I think she will haul some serious ***
In a 27 sedan a transverse spring would look better. Are you setting the motor back to take some weight off the front ? Are you running iron heads ? My avatar ran 9's with parallel springs and it was not a white knuckle ride.
We are planning on stretching the wheelbase a bit. I do agree with the transverse leaf looking better. We have iron heads as of now might be upgrading down the line. Your avatar looks like a hell of a nice car.
