Can anyone help identify the application for the "******d" lug nuts shown in the attached picture? I've asked around and people just stare at or want to touch them but have no answers. Thread is 1/2"-20. Thanks in advance.

The combo of sleeved threads with a taper indicates that the application was one of those universal mags with oval lug holes and washers.

The ******? The only use I can guess would be to keep someone from using a regular lug wrench. You would need a deep socket to get a good grip on those.

Funny, isn’t it? Everybody’s interest peaks at the mere mention of ******s when ever mammal, both male and female have at least two?

  15. I was a bottle baby and have no real mommy issues. Now if he said ****** lug nuts that would be entirely different, I like to eat at the Y.

I think logically if there was a mechanical reason the answer that @onetrickpony gave is probably as close to truth as any. When using chrome lug nuts you really don't want someone screwing them up with a lug wrench. Of course that could be a by product of the designer thinking that they looked cool. ;)

I once went to the dealer for O.E. lug nuts. I told the person make and model of vehicle as requested. Then to my surprise he ask me "what do your nuts look like?"
