Hi to everyone, I am an engineer living just north of Auckland, New Zealand with my wife Lin, where I manufacture 1 off components through to complete race cars. I found this 55 M100 in a hanger at a local private field and just fell in love with it. The body work is not too bad but the electrics have been butchered so I will replace completely and rebuild the engine, otherwise she drives very well. The truck appears completely original, except for the decals we have added to advertise Lins' company. We both enjoy driving it whenever the weather allows, even for short trips for breakfast at the beach.

Can anyone advise if Mercury (not Ford) step plates are available, if not what font is used for the "mercury" name and I will make some. Also the best option for hidden power brakes as I want to keep the engine bay as original as possible but Lins' legs get a bit tired if out on a longer trip.

We are travelling this year from San Francisco to Seattle 1st - 8th September and Chicago-Indianapolis-Nashville-Route 66 back to San Francisco 16th Sept - 12 Oct, if there are any shops worth visiting during our trip please let me know.

Thanks in advance Paul & Lin.

Here are some pictures that came with the truck, presumably taken by the previous owner who rebuilt the truck. I also include pic of previous number plate and possible owner (paperwork lists him as Darcy Boyden of Calgary?) on perhaps his daughters wedding day? If this is correct I am in Calgary mid Sept this year and would love to meet up. 9.jpg 1.jpg

An M100, looks to be a good score. Wouldn't be too many of them around. The Mercury M-Series is a series of pickup trucks that was marketed by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. Produced from 1946 to 1968, the Mercury M-Series was sold primarily in Canada, as a rebadged version of the Ford F-Series. It appears that no Mercury trucks were sold in the US.
I'd say you may need to have the plates recast if they are not available aftermarket (Repo)

The previous owner was wearing a "Canadian Tuxedo"!

    Not too different than NZ

  8. Some M100s leaked into the US along the northern border, generally as used trucks. As stated, they weren't sold new in the US. All of them I've ever seen used the same script/font as the Fords, it just said 'Mercury' instead. Anyplace Ford used the Ford oval, Mercury usually subs***uted the 'generic' Ford gear/lightning bolt emblem minus the 'Ford'. The last few years they built them, they didn't even bother with that; the only differences was the hood script, 'M100' emblems, and the tailgate. Everything else said Ford like the US versions.

I was aware they were all made in Canada, however as you can see from the tailgate the font is quite different from "Ford". Cheers
