Just thought I would tell everyone on here about the great friends we can make from on the HAMB. The Hamb is a great place as we can even meet old friends or acquaintances thru this tool as well. It was thru the HAMB that I became better friends with FLAMEDOLDS. I had met this guy about 10 years ago at Super Run in Winnipeg MB. We had gotten to talking about my 53 Pontiac that I had driven out to this show, since at that time he was building a 53 as well and even planning on running a 69 Pontiac OHC inline, same type of engine as what I was running in mine. Since that time I had never stayed in contact as it was just someone I had met with a common interest and time goes by ( you all know how many people we all meet at shows that have something similar). Thru the HAMB this guy realized that he recognized my car and contacted me. We had spoken a few times on here and I ended up askin him about his old 53 and that OHC. Ended up he sold the 53 but still has the OHC inline sittin in a storage shed. Being as I am interested in these engines and running one in my hotrod as well as my 53 I inquired if he would sell it. This shows you what kind of guy he is, he tells me he would like to see someone put it to use rather then it sit, and really didnt want to make any money off of it. So his idea of a trade is that I make a simple Donation of 100 bux to the HAMB, and the motor is mine. This guy is a straight up good guy. Not too many people out there that are NOT looking to make a buck on something like this. So I just thought this would be a good way to thank him and thank the HAMB for being here since without either I would not be getting this OHC engine. Thanks guys, and I spoke to Ryan about the Donation, and it is in the mail currently.
Thats great! I got my car and a buddys car through contacts on the HAMB - and met up with a few HAMBers - and have no doubt that this place will be a source of big time help when building my project. Looking forward to gaining knowledge and being able to contribute myself someday soon! How many of those engines you got now!? haha. Jon
Once i pick up this one, i will have 4, 2 in vehicles and 2 not, but the kool part is that this one is the bigger cubic inch one, should make my sedan rip good for sure.
The information this site provides is worth more than a couple old engines any day. Everytime I log on I cant believe the amount of knowledge the members of the hamb are trading amongst eachother. I dont usually post repeat answers to questions others have answered and I try to give the best info that I know but some of the stuff guys on here know and do blows me away. I am probably selling my Model A project for now as I want to get my Olds painted fancy.
Wow - looking forward to seeing this beast on the road. You're going to have to give me my first ride in a trad chopped ford sedan. Wait - thinking about it - first ride in a choped vehicle. I expect to lose my hearing temporarily as well, and maybe even shit my pants. Jon
