Hot Rods So, if you WERE going to run red wheels with white walls, what color would you paint the car?

I see you picked the 35-36 Ford cream. Good choice. Mine came out a little more yellow than this.

Thanks for the post. It will help me choose a color. I'm leaning towards the dark blue / red wheel combo. Gary

Agree, paint the car the color you like, Do anything you want with the wheels, run multiple sets, paint them orange - stands out and accents many colors.

Nice cars, but a 2.5 year old thread. I hope the OP still isn't trying to decide and has his car on the road by now!

I know this isn't the popular way of thinking but I am tired of the BLACK wheel thing. So overdone, trite, everywhere. But hey, that's just me, do what you want. To answer the question, just about any color looks good with red wheels. ;)

  18. I’m not in “car building mode” right now but I still like to get ideas.

I started this thread when I was thinking about a Roadster before I traded for the mostly complete red 32 car.

Since it’s finished I’m in “don’t screw with them anymore” mode.

    That’ll change though I’m sure.

I find this forum a little off in a lotta ways these days. Dont mean to highjack the thread, but this one asks for it.The idea of "traditional" is way lost. Traditional was using the best cars , parts , paint and technique you could muster at that point in time. Yet people insist on wide whites on "hot rods", which happened , bust was more of a kustom thing, drum brakes, and garbage bias tires, cowl steer with arms in no relation to the length and angle of the front suspension arms, leading to "death wobble", to the point where someone recently asked where to get tires shaved. Where? Nowhere! No one does that!If they want a half decent ride, they buy radials.Want bias plys? Live with a ride that borders on danger. Alas, I digress. People who bag on things that make driveable enjoyable cars love to knock red steelies. Are they overdone? YUP. Same way they were years ago.Same way everyone had slots or cragars 20 years later. Whos picking and choosing whats cool and traditional? The people who run that clique obviously have rectal cranial disorder, and my dollar says most with such strong convictions dont do 1,000 miles a year.
