Anybody know if Mallory make/made an electronic distributor for the Buick nailhead? I know the distributor was interchangeable between Nailheads.
MSD does, but the curve is not quite right from the factory. You can get it pretty close though with the black bushing installed and one heavy silver spring and one light spring that come with them.
Would using that configuration be the same every time for all Buick nailheads? Or would it vary from car to car depending on other factors? Are the MSD ones any good? I have seen them on ebay, but they look a bit cheaply made compared to the Mallory ones.
Just like anything, "one size does not fit all". For the most part they are the same or pretty similar across the board. But just like a carb they may need a little fine tuning depending on you set up. I run one of the MSD's in my '57. I think the quality is pretty good. It's been in there for about 10 years at this point. I haven't seen a "new" Mallory for the Nailhead in a long time. So not sure which one you are talking about, If it's vintage I'd think it needs going through at this point
I was reffering to the vintage dual point Mallory distributors that sometimes crop up. Although I think Mallory now make a kit to convert the dual point style one to electronic.
I am trying to locate him Linder/ bubba on the ham about a distributor. Do u have his handle Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
