I have a fresh rebuilt 4gc on my 327 and it’s flooding. Ran decent but rich before the rebuild and I’m sure everything was done correctly. Floats are set to factory spec (height and drop)but fuel dribbles from the clusters even after shutting the engine off.
Drop the floats. The long arm sometimes bends. Carb king will answer here soon. Fuel pressure should be at 4.
Wondering if I have a sticking float, I’ll probably pull it apart and see if I can blow thru the fuel inlet.
I only mentioned that because you said it ran rich before the rebuild. Fuel pressure might be a gremlin before and after the rebuild.
I agree with you and. its definitely worth looking into but doubtful it’s the cause of my flooding. I did find the secondary floats sticking.
There good. Just dropped the floats 1/8” p&s and it ran great for a min then started dribbling again. Going to change the fuel filter, flush line and drain carb. Wondering if there’s trash keeping it open
Sounds like needle and seat is not sealing. Float can work, but if not sealing then fuel pressure will still push fuel into the bowl.
This is what I feel is happening, the screen in the carbs fuel inlet was spotless(not doing it’s job) the bowls were full of trash. I pulled the inline filter off and cranked it over with a length of fuel line in a jar, trash on bottom of jar. Installed a new inline filter and cleaned/blew out the carb for a temp fix. I plan to install another flushed tank I have. Only problem is the base gasket was damaged when removing the carb and have to wait for a replacement! Absolutely.....a love hate relationship!
More wasted time, reinstalled the carburetor and the same problem....only worse, fuel was FLOWING from the clusters. I’d had enough, there’s no way in hell its from trash! Installed the old N&S re set the float height and drop to factory spec and it runs like a dream! The kit was from Mike’s Carburetor Parts.
I’ve had problems with new accelerator pumps from kits as well, I try to keep the originals, if possible. The gaskets are the main thing, they get trashed just about every time you remove the top to adjust something. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
