Old Sun distributor machine. Newest spec on the list roll on top is 56 or 57. While digging through it I found the flathead distributor adapter too. A bonus. The clean up is a slow process and I haven't touched it in months. I also have a Sun 920 with the scope that I think dates back to the mid to late 60s. Can't find my pics of that one but i'll add some later. So, whatcha got in old Sun machines? I know there was a topic on it years ago in the main board but since we've become "antiquated" I thought I'd start this here. Allens are welcome also. Love old testing equipment... The flatty adapter, too kool...
The Sun 920. I can't have it in the main area yet but I do go the trouble of getting it out to use it now n then.
I'll look at mine and maybe get a picture, that way you can scour ebay and such. Surprised there's no download info for em, I looked...
Damn. Ive always had a old Sun dist set up on my wish list so I could set and tune my old point dist`s to stock specs for my stock engines. Every one I find was questionable on if they worked and they wanted a small fortune for them.

Hey Dan griffin! I am looking for any info on my Sun 920. I would love to have an owners manual or a copy of it.
Not quite the 920, though here's a 57 pg reproduction for the 800 and 900 series. He'd be the guy to ask. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/372353790949
Here is my Sun Master Motor Tester. The manual copywrite is 1938. I still use it my cars for tuneups.
There are some cool old tools on here. Thanks for sharing guys. Here is a pic of the Sun Distributor machine at the technical institute I teach at. It has been there since it was brand new and has been used to teach distributor ignition up until last year when it was finally removed from the curriculum. It works perfectly and is in mint shape. Hi Dan, Might you have a manometer for sale? Also looking for the long handles that are on the distributor machine cabinet. Thanks, Tom
Hi, I am looking to purchase a copy of the operators manual for a SUN cp-7660 engine analyzer. Any help greatly appreciated!! Thanks Chris
Here’s a Sun tester I bought a month or so ago from an old closed down machine shop. I haven’t even cleaned it off yet! The newest car on the scroll is 1956. But I suspect the machine is even older since in the paperwork that came with it is a certificate from 1951 for the technician’s official training. It came with a flathead adapter already installed! It is a model MD1. Does anybody know when this model was introduced or discontinued?
Not to try and change the intrest but I picked up this old Atlas wheel alignment at a local auction last week - owner passed away but his son said he still used it till his health went bad. Just cool looking- sale price was 15.00 I couldn't let it go to the dunp.
Sorry it is not a Sun but would you all let me post a picture of my ‘King Motor Analyzer’ on it’s new home? Thanks, Mike
Here's my like new 1947 model KC Sun Electric Tachometer Demo kit which was distributed thru Truckstell. The Tach is perfect. Includes both the 6 volt E-1 ( 8 cyl) and 6 volt E-2 (6 cyl) transmitters, both with their original "use by 1948" Everready D cells. Note second pic of plate from the front....... Model "KC", Volts, "TACH" and Cylinders "DEMO". Third pic is of the 18 sales brochures which were included.
I missed two Sun machines at an auction, one a disturbiter machine athe other an engine tester , both on the original roll around bench.... for $125 apiece! Dang! Bones
Hi! I'm new to this form of communications so bare with me. I'm looking for a Sun flathead Ford adapter PN#2-195a for a Sun Distributor machine. If anyone has a lead i would appreciate a responce by phone or text. Tate 941 650 9004
I know this is an old thread but it is the only actual good information I've found on this Sun Distributor Tester Machine. My grandfather and his dad were mechanics and used this machine many many times over the decades. Well recently my grandfather passed away and we are selling all of his old tools in the garage but this one has very little info on what they sold for anytime recently. From what I can tell it is probably worth around $1500 but I honestly have no idea as this really isn't my area of expertise. Maybe someone here could shed some light on what it would be worth? Any help would be greatly appriciated! Model # MD1
