(Not that anyone cares anyway but me...…... but damn it I really wanted to go for the first time in years.) I know that sounds absolutely down right stupid to 2/3's of the HAMB nation, but we rarely see this kind of heat here in PNW. Seventy five is average here in the summer and that is why we live here, (or did before Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks and a hundred others who have ruined this paradise). Eighty is tolerable, 85 is find shade, beer, and kill the day in the shade. To wander around the fair grounds in the blazing sun would be to much for this old geizer so going to have to for go, what I've looked so forward to this summer. In addition I just had my final exam this afternoon of surgery to remove 3 large skin cancers on my old bald noggin so it would not be smart to temp mother nature with any more It will be 89 Friday and I considered just going in then and seeing if I could tough it out but $70.00 is pretty steep for a day, wish they could lower that for the senior rodders on S.S. and Pensions but they have expenses also. Jerry Berg, now in his early 80's, who built and owned the Northern Star, my car is based on, and his son was going to meet up with me so I planed on cruising the grounds with him in his former show winner and he is also bringing his son Eirik and Grandson. I invited them by the garage after they leave, hope that they take me up on that. I could hit at least 60 in the first block out front with Jerry instead of snails speed in the grounds. Hoping someone will get some good pic's and post them here.
Were a large brimmed hat, sunscreen and stay hydrated. Go and enjoy the show. After all us seniors don't have that many shows left.
I hear ya. We have a very hot summer going on over here as well.....way above average. I don't do well in that kind of heat....get all squiggly after a short period. Hat, sun screen, hydrate.....doesn't help. Bad enough we are indoors all winter here then have to do the same for this summer!
Here it will be topping out at a weak 34 . Wait a minute , thats Celsius. Double 34C + 32F comes out to a rather hot 100 F. 34 sounds beter.
Hey Brady I see that in the paper here and it has me concerned for our place over in Apache Junction in "Roadhaven Resort". Been there since '08 usually coming down in Dec. after Christmas. I belong to the Desert Rodders bunch. Have our place on the market. This recent in the past few years heat has dried it out creating to much dust so we are selling and staying up here in the winters we have decided. I've never experienced any heat damage to our place except for melted candles, but there is always a first for everything.
Here in Oklahoma, a high of 93 is a good day to get out! It’s the 103 days that get us. Funny how people in different parts of the country get used to different kinds of weather. But that’s what makes us...us. Bones
I live in Michigan...I love the cold, hate the heat. So far this summer it hasn't been too bad; a couple 90+ days but it cools right down at night. So I'm with ya on the stay outta the heat gig.
109 in my town, 112 yesterday 10 miles down the road. We stay inside until dark, get out early in the morning. All cruise ins have been cancelled around Dallas area. Expecting a break (99) today.
I already paid my registration, and like a dumb *** ( not thinking they would even consider my 36) checked the indoor car show at Expo building for a laugh... Well what comes in the mail on Friday a congrats letter saying your car has been accepted indoors.. Now I have to be there all three days... Well at least there is AC inside... I'm sure the building will be packed , people trying to beat the heat all weekend... I have lots of sun block and a big surf hat with a wide brim...
I have lived here my entire life other than college, ill take 90 degrees over 9 inches of rain any day! I have 2 rounds of golf this week, I wait all year for dry fairways. Heat stroke is real deal and everyone takes the heat differently, be safe out there.
I'm liking the extreme heat less as the years go by, glad I work inside even though the AC ****s... With the byp*** I'm not supposed to get too hot or too cold. I do more car work outside in March and April than I do in summer.
