What does art have to do with the price of muscle cars?

I'm glad to see this stuff getting recognition, and being sold over estimates.

So, tell us what work you do that gives you the right to talk **** about HST?

Did you just call machinists stupid? On a message board for builders?

Please explain the capitalization of "Quitter" genuis.

Aw, com'on...Ray threw the bait out there, and you took it like a hungry b***. No need to keep making a grenade inspector out of yourself....but if you insist, try using something really snappy, like "Oh Yeah???":D

    Metalshapes...Sarchasm.....I love it...

Isn't it amazing how we have no control what happens to our name or our wares after we die?! I am sure VonDutch is spinning in his pin striped coffin, his name is becoming everything he was against. I have a friend who knew him and Roth. He is in complete shock that all this fuss (and $) is being made off of a sign painter from Movie World. He said that both guys were both run of the mill artists trying to make a living. In case you care to see what his stuff sold for visit this site: http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResults.cfm?SaleCode=BC06&SortBy=LN&View=Normal&Category=All

man, you gotta be one stupid mother****er. i make a joke, a real ****ing obvious one that i just KNEW some ****ing know it all Dutch "expert" would jump on and school me. i mean really, you thought some hamber was dumb enough to think von dutch was a fashion designer? the joke's on you dumb***, the smartest thing you could do is back off and have a chuckle at yourself for walking right into that one, but no, you gotta come with the personal attacks like a typical internet bad***. i'm so ****in sorry the "best" i could do was call you a ****, bue hey, i wasn't trying to turn it into a personal flame fest, i was being a nice guy and not trying to make you feel like MORE of an ***hole than you already are. yeah i got a ****in clue, but i ain't much on the whole hero worship thing, whether it be von dutch, HST, Jesse James, Boyd or whoever, cause that worship **** is for ****ers like you who are to ****in lame to make a name for themselves. instead i spend my time patiently and quietly learning every aspect of making "things", kind of like your heros did.

edited cause i spelled a word wrong.

I was there. Friday night, and all Saturday. Auction didn't end until about 10pm. Whether or not you agree with Von Dutch's name after his p***ing is beside the point. It was completely amazing seeing all that history in person. I bet the higher profile HAMBers that were there would agree.

  7. What are you talking about, you did drug me...killer weed. I actually p***ed out after you split, you could have borrowed it. Never trust a man named Repoman. I am thankful to own a true Von Dutch painting, and I am far from rich.

There was a rumor that Von Dutch sold his name for like fifteen bucks when he was broke and thats how it eventually ended up on a bunch of ****. And as far as his name on hats and shirts goes, what Paris Hilton doesn't know can't hurt her.

LOL. All underground artists know they can't get rich until their dead.

I have an ex who is a well known writer/performance artist. She has all her stuff do***ented, and organized for after her death.

The bus is in pretty bad shape up above the hills south of Santa Barbara, it is in BFE, thru a bunch of locked gates on some of Bruckers property, it was weird, his clothes are still in it, rat infested, mice tirds every where, the machine shop has been taken out, There was a cool door that he built that brucker took out to preserve. It has holes all over it, door left open, side door/ ****ter door left open, its basicly rotting up there. He was offered a ton of money for everything he had relating to Von Dutch at one time, including the bus and he turned it down. I havent talked to him since he gave me the tour of all this stuff, but let it be known, That guy has a TON of stuff, he could easily do a dozen more auctions of cool stuff, not as significant as this recent batch, but if you like old cool stuff, it was like a kid in a candy store, but with no money to spend.... depressing, mainly because I am so into the stuff and he was like, eh, whatever ( so it seemed). It was a cool day for me.

really i hate to pollute this thread with this ****, but this is just too funny to keep private. here's a PM i got. and my public response cause i got nothing to hide.

so you want to kick my *** because you didn't understand a sarcastic comment that everybody else seemed to get? if it means that much to you, buy a plane ticket.

and might i add, if you think the HAMB is not part of the "real world", than WTF are you doing wasting your time here? meanwhile if you need me, i'll be out in the garage.

this is the last i'll comment on this petty matter. again, sorry to the rest of you.

    AMEN !

  21. I sure wish I could have been there, but then my wallet's happy I wasn't.

Did anyone else find it strange that one of the things Dutch is famous for is the hundreds of hand built knives he made and that from what I saw there was only one buck knife sold? Given what it sold for I think I'd better put mine in the safe!

I was just wondering if anyone else heard that or if there's any validity to it. Meanwhile I'll be hanging out in my Von Dutch trucker cap and guzzling down my flying eyeball energy drink asking myself who this "Ken Howard" character is.:D

  25. By many accounts he was a 'difficult' guy to get along with,
who cares?? He is a big fish in the hotrodding and custom world. I just hope his work will go on display somewhere and not fade away into a private stash. If I had the money I would be wasting it on his stuff!
I still cant believe that Robert 'El' Williams stuff was going under expected prices, I cant afford prints let alone originals, this man is firmly in the three greatest artists of all time.
I heard a rumour that Mr Williams is on this board, if so..............
    YOU ROCK!

Now that I have rambled along pointlessly I am done.
    Doc.

  26. I also noticed someone mentioned Coddington in this thread?? That *** hole should not be mentioned on a HOT ROD board, the ****er is one of the main offenders in taking the heart and soul from rodding with billet **** and shiney everything.
**** I hate that man, hate is a strong word and i feel I used it wisely.
    Fukken Coddington.

    Doc.

The one thing I am sure of is that if I was had the $ there is no way I would have left the building without the "Pachuco Cross" painting. I hope Mr. Wiliams was able to buy some of his own stuff back at the bargain prices.

Von Dutch? Isn't that a big *** jean designer? Man, if he only knew what has become of his name now, could you imagine how pissed he would be? KNUX!

    you're kidding right?

didn't his two daughters sell his name to the russian jew who owned clothing company after he was already dead? something that he would literally murder over, but I hear he treated his daughters and wife like **** sometimes so maybe it's payback. in two different ways
