I am in the process of fixing the front brakes on my 52 Coronet, and have run into something that seems a bit odd to me. When I apply the brake to check them on one side of the vehicle only the cylinder seems to be pushing the shoes out and on the other side it appears that just the lower one is pushing on the brakes. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Rebuild all 6 wheel cylinders and the master. The lower fronts tend to pit badly on cars that have been idle for years ...

All 6? The rear ones have been replaced already. I am guessing that those are the extra 2 you refer to?

  4. Yep- four in the front, two in the rear. Like he said, rebuild 'em all. The kits are too cheap not to. Check your hardlines running between the upper and lower to make sure they're clear, and check your flex hoses too.

You can also install a pair of Plymouth spindles and front disc brakes. I have spindles and make the disc kits. Any year plymouth spindle will work from around 46-54 will fit.

I would love to convert the front end to disc, but right now the finances don't allow for it.
