Not much to add yet. Jeff's been finishing up a few cars in the shop and everyone is getting ready for the Spectacular. But I do have something cool to share.

My friend Mitch turned me on to this Nash gauge pod that was for sale on Instagram. I looked at it a few times and then finally decided to buy it.

I love it, and started thinking about incorporating it in the '59. Then while looking at photos of Starbird's cars I saw this early photo of the Predicta.

Holy crap! This pod is what Darryl used in the Predicta!
I cropped this one, you can see the small circles for oil, fuel, and temp at the bottom of the cluster.

I can't even begin to explain how excited I was over this. Can't believe my luck.
I WILL be using this in the car!

Here's an earlier photo of the Limelighter dash:

The dash appears to be loosely based on 1958 Pontiac gauge/bar.

I like where this is heading.

Too bad they junked up the dash in the Limelighter with modern plastic garbage parts. The original design is beautiful.

I'd say some Jetson's music would suit the evolving themes being thrown around here. Kinda Jazzy almost out of this world...;)

  15. Looking good Sancho, I like your plans! I'm off to Michigan next Sunday to pick up a '55 Merc 2 Dr. HT. A stored, stalled project of 22 years. "Mild" custom is the plan, Nose, Deck, Door Handles, Louvers, Skirts and Drop, that's about it. Good Luck with your '59!

Sancho, this is fantastic!!! Did you have this project started when you were art CCR?
I love your vision and I can't wait to see it.

Will you have it at CCR 2019[emoji6][emoji4].

FYI, Rob already had a car and wanted a Harley, I did what your wife did. Had his best friend who has a bike shop, find a bike, pick it up and I surprised him also.
I will be watching your progress

Those Sculpta chairs are the the coolest! Right out of star trek, but pretty pricey.

Hey Deb! Yes, we had it pretty much to the point shown here. The only thing I got since then was the gauge pod. I had the project on Instagram but don't know how many people had seen it. That's why Mark wanted me to do a build thread here.

Pretty sure that if you find a Fairlane 500 4 door sedan it will have stainless over the door pillars and that it should swap onto your current doors without having to chrome the whole frame. I suppose if you were worried that the stainless wouldn't come off of the posts easily, you could unbolt the Fairlane 500 frames and bolt them into your doors. I just feel like having them chromed would be incredibly expensive.

Clearly this car has them and it's not customized. I might even be able to source a set for you if you can't find any.

Had to doublecheck my pics but my Edsel has "chrome" window frames (actually stainless shells over the original steel frames) I think all '59 Edsel post sedans had that, another possible donor for those pieces.

    Terrific project! Fun following along.
Are you converting it to a 2 door like the rendering?

    Buy Jeff a paint respirator...

@Hot Rods Ta Hell Nope, she's staying a 4 door. There were plenty of 4 doors in the little magazines. And we all like the idea of being able to easily ride 4 people in it. Jeff's cars are essentially 2 seaters, you can get someone (1 person) in the back but it's a hassle....

@Squablow Thanks for the offer. I had looked at some with the stainless but the only time I found the frames/stainless for sale they were ridiculously priced. It was actually less to send them to chrome.
I sent them with the interior parts so they are already at the plater's. In fact, they should be done soon!

I subscribed too. I always thought a family-friendly version of "My Blue Heaven" would be an awesome build! Have fun with this!
