Anyone out there that is around 6' 2" ish that rides in a 30/31 coupe with 5" chop, 3" channel? Just want to know if I can get in one, don't care if its uncomfortable. Thanks.

Maybe if you're 110 lbs and built like a slinky.

I think there would be a lot of variables. Steering column and wheel location, does the wheel come off? Where and how the seat is located and constructed.

That being said I’d say *** first and fold yourself up and you’d probably “technically” fit inside.

I promise you it won't take many miles before you care very much about your comfort. The only way to fix this problem is to "channel" the floor so you sit down between the frame rails instead of on top of them. (A great example is the Tony Thacker built Model T Roadster, Feb 2004 Rodder's Digest) If you're building the car it's just one more hoop to jump through, if you're buying the car it means major modifications.

6',5",250 lbs., with 2 1/2" chop and 3" channel. Fit perfect but you have to max out EVERYTHING to fit ,like seat height ,firewall can't be recessed , pedal position ,even went with a steer clear to get the column out of the way. If you can cram your *** in one, buy it.They're fun as hell. 5" might be a little tuff.

We built one once for a guy that was 6 4 abut 250 lbs ended up with 3inch chop and just a real slight channel it was still tight but he drove the car for 10 years till his back gave out in a slip and fall accident. Oops almost forgot package tray in the coupe came out gave more room.

    Don't worry, it will be.

  11. I was 6' 2 1/2, weight 210 lbs, and this is a picture of my truck.
I only have two pictures of my 34 Ford PU, but I chopped 4" and channelled 6". I used a Hudson steering column, and had to change the angle and shorten it slightly.
I removed the box that the seat was mounted on, approximately 6 inches high, and replaced it with a base that was about 1" high. It worked quite well.

6'3", 270 lb gorilla in a 4" chopped no channel '31 coupe. Fit me like spandex pants and the seat was on the floor.

You could probably a.ways get in but my concern would be getting out quickly in case of an emergency. Think ahead and don't get bitten!

I'm 6'2" and about 200. 5 1/2 inch chop no channel in a 28 sedan with a quick release wheel. What a pain to get into...sold it before it was finished.

oh Boy - this is going to be fun - be sure to have someone video your first ( & last?) time in and out - hope that it does not still have visor - maybe put a Sports Coupe top on it

  17. Yeah, I loved that truck, I sold it when I decided that I needed further education. It helped pay the tuition, but it has been over 55 years since I sold it, and I still miss it.

If your thinkin' about buying it, ask for a test drive, ride-a-long.
If your slightly uncomfortable, remember, your getting older every day.
Personally speaking, I'm not getting skinnier or lighter, but I might get 1/2" shorter.
If it's not available, go to the car shows & cruises. Find a similar chip & talk awhile with owner, most will say "jump in & see how you fit". If they have any ****ty car show "no touch my car" bs & a california car duster, just look & keep on going.
I personally invite anyone, & encourage kids to jump in, check it out. See if you like it...encourage the hobby.
