Anyone with a so cal alternator bracket mounted on their Sbc? Any pics would be appreciated. Would like to see how the alternator sits. The brackets that everyone else sells leaves very little belt adjustment. Thanks

Back in the late 70's I used a Chevy smog pump bracket that mounted about the same way that does to mount an alternator. It was a bit tricky getting the belt tension right on that one.

    Use a belt idler/tensioner.

I use them all the time and don't have any problem. They make both right and left side brackets.

Just throwing this out there, obviously you need new style head's, an may not have side clearance for a hood (32, A etc..), But.. I was pretty happy when i found this factory piece late 60's/ KIMG2984.JPG early 70's pickup... I didn't know they existed...

You can get an alternator bracket that tucks in tight like that from Welderseries too but it needs to be welded.
